Offline playlists

Server Version#:1.20.3.3437
Player Version#:7.8.1

My offline playlist tab says “No Content” even though stuff has synced. It has been this way for a while. I have just tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app this does not fix it. Do other users still have this issue and is plex aware of it

If I remember correctly, the Plex app does not sync playlist information if you download/sync music. You’ll only see the playlists if you actually synced that particular playlist.

I have tv show playlists. I sync them and they show up in offline recommended and library tabs but offline playlist tab has a big empty No Content screen when it should show them.

ah… I see – I can reproduce this.
Interestingly downloading the playlist will result in the playlist tab to be available (despite showing as “empty”).
Thanks for sharing.

I have the same issue. My work around is to
1 Disable automatic app updates. App Updates seem to delete all of my sync’d content. It’s visible until I go offline, then it isn’t visible any longer. ( in the downloads section ).
2 Before I leave home, I put my iOS device in airplane mode and make sure I can access my sync’d content.
3. If it says “no content”, then I put the device online, delete all sync’d content , and redownload all of it.

This used to work 100%,meaning synced videos and playlists were available offline, but now I can’t see sync’d playlist, only the videos that were in the playlist. which means I can’t play them as a playlist in the order that I want them to play.

It’s a recurring problem that I wish the Plex team would fix!

UPDATE!!!

I restored the Plex version 7.1 to my iPad, replacing version 7.8.1 , and I can access my playlists offline again! If you have a backup of your iOS apps, you can might be able to do the same and get the functionality back. Applications like iMazing can make full backups of iDevices, including apps. It literally saved my life just now , haha.

This is great since I use my iPad to play music video compilations ( think music festival footage with a soundtrack made up of several energetic electro-house/dubstep music mixes strung together ) when on the treadmill.

Heck, sometimes I play it when lifting weights and can’t see the screen. The music is very energizing.

Hopefully Plex fixes the playlist issue in a future release. Until then, I won’t be updating Plex on my iPad.

I’ve always synced “all music” as well as specific playlists. I do this because most of the time I feel like hitting shuffle but only getting certain types of tracks.

Went to load some music last weekend while I didn’t have mobile service and found the playlist area of the plex mobile app completely inaccessible. I went to downloads and could only get a list of all the tracks that had been downloaded. I couldn’t find a way to limit the tracks to any of my playlist options.

Same thing here (I know writing this is stupid, but let’s keep this thread alive until it is fixed. Maybe on moderator can prevent the auto-closing.)
Can any plex employee comment on the status and if you are aware of this? I will tag a few that showed interest in this in the past in other threads: @ManuelPG, @elan
Honestly, this is broken since half a year already. It feels like the “enhancements” you publish break more things than they introduce. I would prefer if you take more time testing (or automating testing) and release a more stable product. Just one thought from one engineer in the customer role to another engineer in the dev role .

Plex, why is there no resolution to this?. When synching a playlist to mobile device, music shows up on the library tab, but the play list tab has no content. I’m so tired of this issue. Playlists are a way of life for me and you’ve severed that connection. I’ve had to switch to using Spotify for playlists. I’d much rather use my Plex app.

So, I found that the most recent Android update 8.10.0.21911 was what removed all my offline playlists. It seems like they are trying to point to the server. If I disconnect the phone from data I open the playlist tab and it asks to be connected to the internet. After some testing, I found that 8.9.0.21537 worked perfect and brought back my playlist function. I have disabled auto-updates of the Plex app for now. Below is a link to a Plex Android previous versions repository with 8.9.0.21537 (9th November 2020) available for download.

Any updates on when this functionality will be available again? I have plex premium and this is a key function for me, its left a sour taste tbh…

This needs fixing. Either that or PlexAmp needs to get a lot more functionality in terms of working with playlists.

Update as of 12/16/2020. Still having issues.

I ended up rolling back to the last version 7 build for android and the synced music playlist functionality worked again for me. I didn’t try going higher in versions to see which broke or removed the same functionality.

Decided to upgrade until it stopped working and for me, the 8.10 build is where the synced playlists stopped showing up. So I’m using the latest 8.9 build for now.

Reporting the same issue still. I usually like having this around the holidays and was bummed when I tried accessing the playlists and discovered this.

Using an iPhone and have the same issue. Please take a look at this Plex!

I’m having this problem too, on android. Playlists are neither accessible through the playlists tab nor browsing through downloads & sync. My playlists are explicitly synced in addition to the music library. Offline functionality is a big selling point of plex to me, so it’s disappointing that this doesn’t work.

Same issue on two different android phones, Samsung Galaxy A8 and LG Velvet.
