Synced Playlists Not Appearing Under Downloads

Server Version#: 1.21.2.3918
Player Version#: 7.12 (iOS), 8.11.0.22186 (Android)

For reference, the iOS app is running on an Apple iPad Air 2 and the Android app is running on a Samsung Galaxy Note 5.

When syncing a playlist to my device (either of the two mentioned above, as I tried both), the playlist does not show up under my devices’ “Downloads & Sync” category/tab/whatever-you-wanna-call-it (the thing in the sidebar). All I get is a ‘nice’ (not nice) “No content” text showing up on the iOS app and “Add Content to this Library” showing up on the Android app.

For what it’s worth, I have also tried using the web app/desktop app to force-sync the playlist to my device, and whilst the songs within the playlist show up under my downloaded songs, the playlist itself does not show up.

This is quite infuriating and doesn’t bode well as a new Plex user. (Not to mention the inevitable explanation I’d need to give my parents as to why their playlists aren’t showing up when they’re not connected to the internet). Whilst times needing offline (or more commonly, just not wanting to use up cell data to view content) access to my family’s content are rather few and far between during the times of the currently ongoing pandemic, they do happen occasionally and it would be nice for this to work.

I’m experiencing the same thing. Playlists were syncing fine last month. One day they just suddenly disappeared. If I attempt to sync a playlist all of the content will download and appear in the downloads and sync. However the playlist is not listed.

I too am experiencing the same issues as described above. All the songs download to my Android device and are visible under “Downloads & Sync” when I use the sync feature from the machine that I have Plex installed on, but there are no playlists listed, there’s only songs listed under the library. I discovered this bug just a couple of weeks ago when having to travel back to visit a sick parent, much to my surprise none of my playlists were available for me to listen to while on the airplane.

Ditto for me. When I sync my playlist, only the music get synced and not the actual playlist. Today, I deleted the iPod app and reloaded it, but that didn’t help. Lately, I haven’t used this feature, so I don’t know when it stopped working. I had the same problem back in the spring but when Plex came out with version 7.3 in July 2020, the problem was fixed. The “fixed” item stated “Playlist tab wasn’t accessible in synced content”.

Does this work properly for other people?

Sync has not worked with me for a over a year on Ubuntu 19 and 20, initially as a direct installation, later as a Docker image. I’ve tried removing and reinstalling the app from my mobile device, wiping the mobile device entirely, re-installing the Plex server, and countless other methods to no avail.

Very disappointed in Plex Pass. I bought it specifically for the sync feature, since I don’t use any of the other features, and figured the Plex Perks would mitigate the cost. Well, sync does not work and there have been no Plex Perk discounts since I bought Plex Pass.

same issue. Synced playlists are not showing up when offline even though they are synced. If it’s not one thing its another. Was using playlists as a work around since I have had issues syncing collections. The music is synced if I browse under library but no playlist. Syncing has never worked for me well across multiple devices (current phone is LG V40).

I’ve had this issue for a year now, I had naively hoped that maybe it was a hardware issue. I got a new phone yesterday, did a fresh install of iOS Plex app, synced some playlists and although all the content is in my synced music library when I go to Playlists it says No Content. I live my life by playlists, so far during this pandemic I have spent so much time at home it hasn’t really affected me. As soon as I start my regular commute again this will be a major issue. I expect better from a paid for service. Please have this issue resolved as soon as possible, from looking through the multiple forum comments on this you have certainly been aware of this issue for enough time to have resolved it by now.

I can confirm 8.9.2.21619 does have working playlist functionality. Thank Ailfawka.
I really don’t like having to implement a “work around” though. Now I have to read the change notes for every new update and determine a) is the playlist issue been resolved and b) are there security issues being corrected. Then I have to decide if the security patches are worth losing playlist functionality if the devs do not address the playlist issue.
Grrrr

Thank you @TheCouncil I can also confirm rolling back the android app to 8.9.2.21619 restores the ability to see the actual playlists that are synced to my Galaxy Note 10. I am happy I found this thread because I was on the lake this weekend where service is spotty and could not get the synced playlists to show up. This was a royal pain in the behind as we basically had to make new playlists on the fly as the content was available from the library tab but the recommended tab simply did not show the playlists themselves. As @TimFlix_01 says though, this workaround is fine for now but of course I had to make sure the app doesn’t automatically update through the play store, as I have it set for all the apps on my phone, until this bug is resolved. I am hopeful to get someone from Plex to reply and provide an update on this @elan

For music I found this as a potential alternative player to connect to your Plex library and has an offline sync feature. https://plexamp.com/ . It does appear that you need Plex Pass for it to work. Another workaround. I haven’t tested it extensively but in my limited testing it seems to work fine on Android and Windows with Playlists available offline post download (sync). This reminds me of Winamp that I use many years ago (Plex's Plexamp Music Player Is A Modern Take On A Desktop Classic | Digital Trends).
