Old Plex Server Always Showing In Plex Apps

Server Version#: 1.18.1.1973
Player Version#: 4.12.2

I recently rebuilt my home server, completely fresh install of RHEL 8. Kept the hostname the same as the before. I installed plex (bare-metal install, not in a container) and while the service starts normally, when I accessed hostname:32400/web/index there was nothing shown on the dashboard. No new media, no ondeck list, nothing.

Going into settings, I saw that remote access wasn’t working. Strangely, long story short, selecting “manually specify port” while keeping 32400 set worked to get remote access reported as working. If I uncheck the manually specify port option, remote access lists as failed again.

I now see my “new” server in the side bar of the setting page, but it does not appear on the sidebar of the home page. If I go to More>, I now see my local server listed as a remote server.

Similarly on the Plex App for my Samsung Smart TV, when logging in the old server is still showing but everything (recently added, on-deck, etc…) all show a “cannot access” error.

Going through the forums I came across the advice to look at Settings > Authorized Devices > Servers. Only one server is listed, and it is definitely the “new” server as it listed RHEL 8 in the panel.

How can I get the web app to show the server as local, along with the Smart TV App?

You need to tell your app(s) that you have a new default server.
Right now, there are the libraries and hubs of the old server still ‘pinned’ on the front page.

Thanks - that was it!
