Old server ghost

The device was not brought online after a long period. SLCasa has been up for a year now. i logged out of SLCasa trying to fix the issue but logged back in.

Thank you for the info

I experience something that might be related. I have reinstalled my plex-server to new hardware after the old one experienced a disk-crash and became unavailable. I’ve set up new shares for series and movies for my friends to the new server and this all works fine, but the plex webapp friend-lists says that I now share 4 libraries with my friends, but when I click edit on theese friends I’m not able to find the the old shares to remove them. I removed the old server from the devices-list, hoping that this would also remove the “ghost-shares”, but no luck.

The ghost server has now been removed and a bug filed for resolution to stop this arising. If you sign out and sign in within plex web app (top right) you should find the ghost server disappear

it may be similar but it is different. The specific issue here was that the old and absent server showed up in the resources.xml but not in the Settings / Devices screen

Suggest you raise a new topic with screenshots to show the problem plus the resources.xml as requested and provided here. If you have any servers belonging to others and shared with your account then please redact the token before posting the XML in your new forum topic. You can also redact part of your public IP address

Its gone. Thank you for all your help.

@sa2000 After updating to Plex Media Server 0.9.17.3 this morning a new ghost server is showing.

Thanks for reporting the new issue. I will double check if the fix went in to 0.9.17.3 or not

@sa2000 Thank you

Do you know if you have Debug Logging enabled on the server?
I need to know what version of Plex Media Server was running at this time - the time is UTC time
2016-06-21 21:02:44

What is the server time in relation to UTC
Could you zip all the Plex Media Server.log, Plex Media Server.1.log etc to Plex Media Server.5.log for SLCASA and attach please

@sa2000
Here you go

Thank you. I was hoping to see the switchover in the logs from 0.9.17.2 to 0.9.17.3 but not - all the logs relate to 0.9.17.3

The error that caused this to happen was at 21:02:44 UTC time on 21 June 2016

What I need to know is what time you launched first time on 0.9.17.3
I also want to know your server time difference from UTC time

The logs cover local time Jun 22, 2016 18:07:09 to 18:48:09
I need to know which version you were running on at 2016-06-21 21:02:44

Basically we need to establish if the changes in 0.9.17.3 for this issue are failing to stop the problem or if the cause of the problem actually happened before 0.9.17.3 ran on your system

So if you have any information on your installation that helps establish that - please could you provide it.

An unrelated issue - the logs show failure to establish the system locale -
In terminal session on the server environment, could you get the output of the locale command and copy it to a text file and attach

What I need to know is what time you launched first time on 0.9.17.3
couple hour after release

That was 21:02:44 UTC on June 21st. You are 7 hours behind so would have been June 21 at 14:02:44 server time. Was PMS version 0.9.17.3 running then ?

Is it the FreeBSD 64 bit download?

yes

yes

The ghost server has now been deleted and should not appear anymore

A fix has also gone into Plex media server 0.9.17.3 to avoid this arising and we need to monitor the situation to see if that is confirmed as the fix

The evidence we have from Plex.tv is that your SLCASA was still running 0,9.17.2 at the time I indicated

We have these check-ins with Plex.tv :
The times are all UTC (7 hours ahead)

At [2016-06-21 20:55:42 +0000] UTC it was definitely still running 0.9.17.2.
At [2016-06-22 14:44:06 +0000] UTC it was definitely running 0.9.17.3.

@sa2000 thank you
