Old shared server reappeared, can’t be deleted

Years ago a friend shared his server with me. I eventually deleted him from my shared users and removed my access to his shared server. I’ve not seen his server via my account for so a very long time.

Something must have happened on the Plex back end because this server just reappeared on my account, however I can’t access it. Attempting to access the server says that it’s unavailable. I don’t think my friend even has this server anymore

The problem is that I have no way to remove it. I’ve looked everywhere and can find no way to disconnect from it and remove it from the servers list on all my clients.

The user who shared it with me does NOT show up in the shared users section of my settings. Nor does his server show up in the authorized devices section of my settings.

Any thoughts from Plex support?

I have deleted the ghost servers. You should be good now. (Try restarting web browsers and client devices.)

You should go through the list of servers in your own account as well.
Please delete those which are no longer used. (But only those!)

I’ve been experiencing this as well over the past year with my own server. When I first joined Plex was having issues…tried to delete the server and create a new one, but they both show up. I actually named them the same so it will say Ozy19 and Ozy19 unavailable. Is there any way to get help permanently removing the server that is not used or in service? They both appear on my home network via the app on our roku’s and it is super confusing for our kids. I’m at a loss and finally had time to reach out via the forum begging for help. Thanks in advance!!!

I removed the older one. The issue should be permanently fixed now.
You might have to restart the Plex clients.

I guess I said it wrong, but to make sure…Ozy19 is my login and OzysPlex were the two servers. Is that the info that you were able to find? I apologize for the confusion.

Yes. I simply went by your email address and found the duplicate.

Thank you so much! Fingers crossed it doesn’t pop up again! Is there a way to ask you a question on a different topic/thread? I’ve got a buffering/settings question that I’d love to ask…

Not sure I can help. I don’t know everything…

Hey Otto,

The ghost server appeared again today. Can we attempt to delete it again?

You have 2 servers left with identical names. And one of them was indeed running merely 3 hours before the other one.
So I think, you still have a second PMS installation somewhere, which is occasionally started up.

I suspect it is on the same Windows machine, but under a different Windows user account.
You must make sure that PMS is only starting itself under one particular Windows account.

You should be able to see both, and delete one of the servers here:

Hello,

It appears I am having the same issue with an old server that was shared with me. There is no way I found that it can be deleted through settings. It is called shadow-01. Could a mod please assist removing it on the backend? Thanks!

Done.

Ditto !!

I can’t remove a old server called Office PI. It seems to only show up in the andriod app.
