Older IOS plex app paywalled for remote streaming, while server has a plex pass

Server Version#: 4.145.1
Player Version#: 8.45

One of my users has an older ipad with IOS 15, plex client version 8.45. The user is getting the ‘one time payement’ message, streams are limited to 1 minute. The server owner has a plex pass.

As per the new policy users should not be limited in mobile use when the server owner has a plex pass.

It is not possible to update to a newer client version because of the IOS version, and not possible to update the IOS version because of old Ipad.
Other users who are on up to date clients are not limited by the same issue.

I don’t see a reason why the limitation should still be active on older clients, since the limitation is purely administrative.

Is this a item on the backlog, or it there a way around this? Or are users with older clients out of luck?

This is explicitly only valid for the new apps. If you install the legacy app, all the rules from before still apply to them.
Which in this case means: either be a managed user in a Plex Home of a Plex pass owner, or pay the one time unlock fee.

Update because it might be of interest to someone; after buying the one time fee thing the only amount charged from apple store was 1,08 euro. It looks like plex doesn’t actually charge the amount anymore, and the one euro is a fee from apple.
