Yea, I guess Plex is going the way of cable and cell phone companies. Never mind the people that made you, focus on new customers.
I don’t mind the new addons. Free TV and Movies. Just let me turn the crap off.
Free TV full of ads is the reason I cut the cord in the first place.
I’d also like to voice my displeasure with this new change for library separation. I thought it was a bug at first until I saw some threads on Reddit also talking about it.
None of the users of my PLEX are happier with the new approach, especially because I have separate libraries for documentaries, live comedy, etc, that aren’t films but are feature length.
These libraries appear above my ‘Films’ library in the hub, so I have items populating from months ago with the actual new items being buried further down.
I have no idea why this isn’t a toggle in the settings. I’m sure there’s users who like this change but I’ve seen many who don’t.
I haven’t seen a single. “Thank God you finally split up the Recently added by library” comment in any of the threads here at the forum. .
Yes, I know people don’t usually comment if they like a change. But you would expect at least one “Way ta go” reply. No?
They do if it’s something they’ve been asking and waiting for.
Managed users just click their face like on Netflix. My 5 year old niece manages it just fine, the 4 year old usually has trouble with the “point the remote at the TV” part, but usually manages it with enough time. Nothing complicated
So I just ran into this issue for the 1st time that really affected me & I gotta say, the split makes it more or less useless now
I know.
But that’s not a solution to the multiple RA rows, even if I did it. First of all, I would have to set up multiple “accounts” for each household I share with. All of those households (and the individual users) would become part of my “home,” and if I understand the documentation, they would then not have access to other Plex servers. If I only added the grandkids, there would still be the log out/log in/password thing, when their parents switched to the other account, and vice versa.
To top it off, now there are more accounts and devices that are going to require some sort of customizing to get back to the simple home page that was there previously.
My comment was specifically to answer the question, “Why multiple libraries of the same type”
I didn’t say it was, that’s a completely different problem, but your main problem is one that is easily solved. Whether for you or someone else reading through I was correcting information you seem to believe something untrue about. There are many ways to do multiple accounts, & some of them require passwords, but the basic managed user is another face accessed through the same login that you do now. Each user can be limited in libraries they can see & by content rating or filters. I have an [Adult] sharing filter that I use & certain users who may want to see R rated & TV-MA rated content but don’t want to see anything with nudity or where sex is talked about as a subject won’t see those R, TV-MA, or even PG-13 items that have that filter. Now that’s my personal setup, but you could set up anything you like, though it’ll be more work, if you wanted those things. But that’s all beside the point of your statement that you said if you did multiple users it’d require them to login & it’s easier for the kids to just click the 1st library. Which is not true. Already having the libraries split you’d just make their face only see the Family ones. Not only is it easier for them, it’s familiar & something they should be used to because every streaming service uses it & most have a very similar user picker screen. Then if you use a single user for everyone you won’t need to setup a user for each person, just a Kids & a Parents one. For me the biggest benefit of the users is watch progress, so each user can continue a show where they were as opposed to where the last person to watch it stopped. But again, that’s not necessary, just a benefit to those who use it.
Yes, this is a limitation of managed users, but in your example it shouldn’t matter if you simply have 4 libraries, Family & Regular for Movies & TV, & everyone is logged in to the same account. It’s like your trying to invent more problems to make it look like it’s worse so they’ll do something, but I think that’ll only have the opposite effect
This is only a limitation when you make a managed user.
Regular users can be part of a Home and they will still be able to access other servers and have the “benefits” of being in the home.
The use case for managed users is if you do not want to have to make a full Plex account but want somebody to have access to your server (and you have a Plex Pass).
For instance, I created managed users for my parents so they can log in on their own accounts and have their own history. I had to first log in with my account but then I was able to turn on the option to automatically sign in (which stays signed in as the last user) and they don’t have to do any additional logging in.
However, I can switch to my account on their devices if I want to by switching users (and of course if I didn’t enable the auto switch option I would see the profile screen and they would have to enter a 4 digit pin to login, which I chose to enable).
Just wanted to clarify that, as while a specific solution is being suggested some of the answers in this thread are making it seem like certain limits exist for all users in a home which is not true (biggest example is what I mentioned about regular users in a home, i.e., users with a full Plex account, still being able to access other servers).

My problem is is not what my grandkids may or may not watch. That is their parent’s responsibility.
Thanks for the detailed explanation of how users work. Silly me – I could have just read the documentation.
Let’s return to the subject of the thread - On Deck, Continue Watching and multiple Recently Added hubs. Too many threads get ignored by Plex once they digress into unrelated matters.

You were the one who brought up the digression into unrelated matters… We were just showing that your digression was not only unrelated but not actually a problem at all
Is this ever going to have a fix rolled out for it? There’s no way to manage the homepage on half my users devices not on a web interface (ie Samsung TVs) and I get messages daily complaining about it.
Give your users a full refund. That’s what I do.
I’m kidding, no, I do not charge my friends.
They also don’t complain about their free service.
I have changed to Managing my Home screen rather than Automatic. I can pretty much get what I want on Roku, Shield, Fire TV and Android devices.
We should have to jump through hoops to get back to close to what we had before but I’ve been using Plex a long time, I’m used to their whims.
You also manage the Home screen on WebOS devices (LG) as well.
The option to manually manage your home screen has vanished from both the Samsung TV app and the Xbox 1X app, bizarrely.
I’d also like to see the ‘Recently Added’ limit removed and it to return to how it used to be when you scroll right. I used to be able to just keep going for what seemed like about 50 entries, now its limited to the last ~10 recent additions.
Now if I want to go back and see older entries I have to go into that library, filter by date added, then scroll down. Such a faff!

Isn’t that a limit you can set? I know I’ve set it, but don’t remember where it was
Not that I’ve ever seen, at least not in the Samsung or Xbox app settings.
Edit: Are you thinking the ‘Weeks to consider for On Deck and Continue Watching’ and ‘Maximum number of On Deck items which will appear.’ options in PMS?

Probably
I’d also like to see the ‘Recently Added’ limit removed
I still have 50 ‘Recently Added’ entries on the Plex Web, Fire TV, Shield and Roku clients.
Funnily enough I’ve just checked again and the limit of ten in the Samsung app has been removed. That must have happened in the last day or two.
The limit of ten is still present on the XBOX app.
If there is one consistancy with Plex it’s inconsistancy.
