I don’t think that’s a particularly helpful or constructive comment. Different people work on different things. Not everyone works on the same stuff all the time
I 100% FEEL THIS WAY TOO. Selfishly if I look back over the past year to 18 months at what has plex done for me, its a very small positive list. The movie agent and the up coming tv agent, that stuff is awesome and should be applauded from high.
Pretty much everything else has been a car crash or addition of stuff I just scratch my head and say, did someone really ask for that ? The UX update to roku was (and still is) a mess in parts. The recent updates to Android app is just a stability disaster. If we all remember what started this thread it was a mistake of a bad merger of OD and CW being rolled out.
I’m invested in plex and love many aspects of it but its very much a love/hate relationship.
I personally thought we had rolled out a bunch of widely appreciated things, like Skip Intro, Watch Together, HDR → SDR Tonemapping, and the new movie agent in the last 12 months. While I’ll acknowledge there are certainly bugs to fix (and there always will be some), we have also fixed a large number of bugs in the last 12 months too.
New agent(s), amazing, I’ve said that. Watch together and tone mapping is of no interest to me. Again and I know this is a selfish view of the world but I was looking at what plex done for me and various aspects of how I use plex is not as good as it was a year ago.
Bug fixes and stability is very boring and not something a company can sell when they try and get more subscriptions. I do understand the business and your need to make money. But when stuff is removed or has been broken (for months/years) when compared to previous versions its SO FRUSTRATING.
Do no harm please and when you do fix it ASAP.
If there are particular items of note, I’m happy to take a look and see if it’s work we already have scheduled, or something not yet scheduled
I’ll add four just doing a quick search of stuff I have recently commented on …
These three are perfect examples of stuff that worked in the past and no longer do (first one has been broken for YEARS but should be fixed when the new TV agent comes) …

Finally small feature request so multiple studios can be supported:

I also added many comments on this thread but have lost my will to live with it !

This is definitely one where I believe people stopped commenting not because they got used to the UX update, but because we felt nobody was ever going to listen anyway.
@AmazingRando24 agreed
Appreciate the interest in other bugs and/or complaints, and the commitment to get back to us on their status,
Having said that, this thread is about the changes to “On Deck, Continue Watching and Recently Added.” There are several comments that have strayed from the topic (and I’m including myself in that category.) Asking, in essence, for other unrelated bugs to be posted here so you can check into them almost ensures the real topic will be lost, and nothing more than a general bug report thread.
My 2 cents, for what it’s worth. ![]()
Yes, it just keeps getting worse.
All android versions of players ignore nearly 2 year old work that makes it so double episodes (S01E02E03) don’t play twice when in play next mode
Have brought this up many places and no indication this is even a bug being tracked
@mcrommert Could you try and rename to S01E02-E03 and see if that helps?
2 sequential episodes
/data4/media/tvarchive/Luther (2010)/Season 01/Luther (2010) - s01e01-e02 - Episode 1 + Episode 2 [Bluray-720p x264 AC3 5.1].mkv
4 sequential episodes (note e02 and e03 are skipped but included in the range
/data4/media/tvarchive/Are You Afraid of the Dark! (1992)/Season 02/Are You Afraid of the Dark! (1992) - s02e01-e04 - The Tale of the Final Wish + The Tale of the Midnight Madness + The Tale of Locker 22 + The Tale of the Thirteenth Floor [MPEG2 AC3 2.0].mkv
Probably miss-typed his own example.
When named properly (S01E01-E02), Plex will mark both episodes as played, but it will attempt to queue up episode 2 (which is contained in the same file) during the post-play auto-play screen, so the same file will just play again.
If you get out of the post-play screen and go back to the home screen, you’ll see that the correct episode (S01E03) is next on deck.
The auto-play queue is what is broken. It’s also broken when trying to play things like Doctor Who in the correct order (by air-date). If watching the last episode of a season, there would typically be a special before the next season. The auto-play queue will not handle this correctly. However, if you go back to the home screen, you’d see the special (which would be next episode by air-date) correctly on deck.
and this is android specific, or do you know if affects other clients ?
As far as I know, it happens on every client, but I can confirm Android mobile and Roku for sure.
Android 8.12.3
I don’t think that Plex understands that 8.12 brought a whole bunch of new problems with the home screen. We are way past the annoying duplicates that can be easily removed. The problem is that we can’t get hubs to even appear on the home screen if we have more than one library of a given type (e.g. 2 TV libraries and/or 2 Other Videos libraries). It doesn’t matter what I do, I can only get on deck items to appear for one of my tv libraries and not the other.
This is cluster #$%&. My home screen ends up with loads of recently added sections and it seems impossible to tidy up even on manual settings. What’s worse is some of the recently added sections seem to actually still be the much loved merged version yet if you try to delete all the others then that one disappears instead at some point.
Please, please, please revert it to how it was, it’s an abomination as it stands and the home screen is useless to me like this. At least give us the option to choose if you still want to persist in breaking it.
The thought of putting everything ‘movie like’ in one library and using collections instead gives me the willie’s. I have separate libraries for a reason! The admin overhead of tagging and filtering would be insane.
Bottom line… I love Plex but I hate this god awful mess.
Not contradicting or challenging anything at all, but I am curious. I’m watching for new stuff in my libraries all the time and I do it by sorting by date added. In fact I don’t care all that much about anything except recent additions and neither do my users.
Is the “recently added” section on home really all that much of a must have? Checking each lib directly obviously does not scale with increasing number of total libs, so, is that the reason? Or something else?
For me it’s mainly for friends and family that ask for something specific.
When it shows up on the home screen they know it’s ready. I don’t have to tell them which library it’s in.
