Right, the fact is those settings don’t work with the new continue watching. They only work now from on deck from within a library.
Mine’s set to 40. Maybe that’s the default. But you’re right, that number should be respected every place.
The issue is - my Friends and Family have (probably) never viewed a library in their lives. They add items from Recently Added putting them On Deck, so they never have to… until now, I guess.
Not sure how I’m going to explain to a group of geriatric contemporaries that can’t set a Remote Quality to now use a Library On Deck they’ve never seen.
I’m sure Plex doesn’t have these issues… they just do whatever TF they want and let us deal with it - and now we’re dealing with it… or not.
I’d even be ok with allowing me to remove the home screen completely at this point. just let me start on the tv library with my tv on deck and i’d be unhappy still, but satisfied.
Not disagreeing with you, just stating the facts. Those settings no longer work for cw on the home hub.
Myself, Friends and Family are painfully aware of that fact.
I too was searching for a way…
Not sure how this will work for you, but on my Roku I discovered that changing the order for Pinned Items resulted in a corresponding change for the home screen for the ‘related items/hubs’ - which was good 'cause there appears to be no other way to achieve that.
Could be a bug. Could be by design.
Plex Develops - Users Invent, Discover or deal with it.
Our options appear to be limited.
My Friends will never be able to do it, but the next time I visit them I’ll have quite a list to take care of…
This whole thing is driving me nuts…
I might be confused (more than likely) but…
I go to a Library on a specific server:
Nothing there…
So I edit the library and select include in Global Search:
Stuff appears:
Click on the Library tab and see my Library
Click back on to Recommended and the Recently added row has disappeared:
Then I started playing something from that library, stopped it and it came up under Continue watching and the recently added row re-appeared.
Clicked between Library and Recommended again and the recently added row disappeared again. (Continue watching was still there)
The order of the hubs is affected by the ordering of things in the sidebar, and additionally, the settings for weeks to consider On Deck/Continue Watching and the number of items to keep in On Deck/Continue Watching will work again with the home hub in the future.
“On Deck” was syncable, this allowed me to always have my next up episodes on my mobile devices.
Will this ‘Continue Watching” be syncable in the future?
No - Continue Watching is not great IMO - it doesn’t show enough entries - My “On Deck” showed about 50 entries, this thing shows like 10. And it doesn’t pay any attention to the setting in the server. Now I have to go through my library to figure out what I was watching.
PLEASE restore On Deck the way it was, I’m soooooo frustrated with this change. The new Continue watching does not show all the episodes On Deck had!
I’ve been using Plex for almost a decade I have never commented, this is the stupidest most ridiculous change I’ve ever seen by Plex. If you’re giving everyone options you give them the option to have on deck and you give them the option for how many can show up on continue watching, you don’t say will probably fix in the future. I will be having to downgrade my media server edition and try to force Google TV to not auto update now which I’m not sure is possible. I thought my application was screwed up I uninstalled it reset everything nope it was just a new POS feature upgrade. Now I can’t see all the shows that are waiting for me to watch because I only have the option to watch 10 at a time maybe I’m waiting to watch a few of them for a reason and I want to watch ones that are hiding i wouldn’t know what I have to catch up on because it’s missing!!! Give us the option for on deck and more than 10 we should have the ability to have everything we want to continue watching on the list this is completely the most idiotic change I have seen. You change this for the 1%, not the other 99% that actually use the system as is intended. On deck was amazing I came home I saw what I started watching yesterday and I continued and I could see all my shows or movies not just 10. On deck should be a choice not just deleted. Let’s have a vote, why don’t you ask how many people want to go back to the original one or stay on this horribly designed new version. We are the paying customers.we should have a vote or some say? We are the ones using it and paying for it…
+1
I could not have said it better.
Plex team, do whatever you want with the automatic home screen. We understand the purpose.
Let us do whatever we want with the customised one.
“Continue watching” (video started but not finished) and “On deck” (TV shows currently watched) are not items of the same nature. However, some people prefer the simplification of having it together (I respect that) and others don’t (you should respect that too).
Even Apple, who is known to “decide” for you, lets the the users customise iTunes/Music App.
You are creating a problem to us (removing a feature) instead of focusing on fixing a problem for others (improving the automatic Home Screen).
Honestly it doesn’t make sense to me.
Or maybe, there is a hidden agenda that goes beyond the home screen that we have not fully realised yet…
That’s a minor detail that will be fixed in the future. I was talking about the general idea to merge those 2 rows, which is just great.
That being said
@DaveBinM you guys really need to do a better job not releasing half baked stuff in the stable tree. I really really don’t want to beta test for you guys when i come home after a long work day and just wanna watch some stuff.
Are you guys having software quality issues in engineering, or is your QA department having issues? Whats the problem here?
This is really not a great look, the hub has been semi unusable since you decided to split the RA rows and it’s the first thing people see every day when they log in and you have not fixed it till now.
Supposed to be fixed in the future.
My Continue Watching seems to be limited to just 6 Movies/Episodes due to this. Been like that for a while so I was using the On Deck instead for the most part. Now you’ve disabled the On Deck and I’m forced to watch the 6 Continue Watching to get any other choices. It should be at least 50.
Mine is 6 now also. Such bullsh!t. Plex is now broken. Cant wait to start seeing the negative reviews on the playstore etc.
So I just made the mistake of updating my server without looking into the “new” features, and now my home screen only has the continue watching on it, doesn’t have all the shows that I had on my On Deck, and my recently added movies and TV shows are no where to be found. The look is terrible now, the ability to see what we are actually in the middle of is very difficult because the yellow bar is so small under the movie or show. We pause a lot due to having a small child, having those two separated was fantastic, now it’s a total mess. How do I get my recently added movies and TV shows back on my home screen? And why are all of my movie collections broken now? Or I should say duplicated? I had them all set up so they would show up at the top of the library, and now I have to go back and re-do them. Plus the recommended tabs no longer show anything but an error of " There was an unexpected error loading this library" Please give us an option to have On Deck and Continue Watching separated as before, this new look is awful and causes more headaches then is necessary.
Please add functionality ASAP on the amount of items that can be shown (or weeks) on the new “Continued Watching”. This limit of 10 items is ridiculous. My whole household is complaining about it and I have to agree. I miss the 40-50 items that was set in the “On Deck” settings.
