So, a few days in to this stinking pile of garbage, and it’s awful.
On Firestick, “Continue Watching” on the home screen still only has one partially viewed film. If I go to the TV library, the CW has the 6 shows (and who thought this stupidly low amount was a good idea?!) most recently viewed. So, CW is tracking some very small amount of shows.
But, they do not show on the homescreen. If I remove CW from the homescreen, then go to TV, find the CW there, and tell Plex to add it to homescreen, then view homescreen, it still contains only the one partially viewed film, and that’s it. No TV shows.
This is beyond stupid, beyond broken. What I said earlier in thread holds true: This is where I could see Plex being years ago, and growing in to On Deck as a sign of “progress”, and allowing for more than a measly, pathetically small 6 shows as a sign of progress.
This is stupid, this is backwards, and on Firestick, it’s /so/ broken that a shared library has titles that 100% mimic my library. Web reflects the shared library properly, but Firestick does not.
Stupid.
Broken.
This is now, simply, useless garbage.

On merging Continue Watching and On Deck…
It’s incredibly annoying to scroll through the 15 shows you watch on shuffle on a weekly basis to find the 1 or 2 new shows you are currently watching.
An easy fix…
A setting that says, “Don’t add episodes you have already watched to the Continue Watching list”, would fix this immediately and not have to go back on your decision to merge Continue Watching/On Deck. I wouldn’t mind a new series I’m watching for the first time to appear when stopped in the middle, but it is very annoying when shows like The Simpsons and The Office which are fun to watch on shuffle appear on the list because they were stopped in the middle.
My current solution…
Log into my server and manually select each shuffled episode in the list and mark it as watched. Sometimes there are multiple episodes per series so it takes awhile. This cleans it up for a short time until another 15 episodes are in the list and I have to do it again. Does not make for a good user experience.
Please add back the ON DECK. Or, at least, give the user the option in settings. The ON DECK and CONTINUE WATCHING is very popular and useful to TV series watchers. It was one of the best parts of Plex.

The functionality of On Deck is still there, it was just merged with the Continue Watching hub
I understand that. But having the two separate makes it much easier and convenient for TV Series watchers. There are numerous TV series that one could be waiting for ON DECK, but only one TV series or movie that one could be in the middle of that they would like to CONTINUE WATCHING.
Does that make sense? Right now, I have 6 different TV series that I watch throughout the year that I know will be ON DECK to watch. But I have one or two that I am in the middle of that I would CONTINUE WATCHING.
I’m just asking for the option in SETTINGS.

agreed with drleaflet and I’m sure many others about making it optional. I get that some people might like the new change, but if so many people are against it, why not just make it available to opt out? I can’t imagine adding a checkbox in the server settings for the old view would be that difficult for you guys. Making it optional will make everyone happy, both the people who like it now and the people who liked it before.

It’s not a server side thing though, the hub is put together on the client side from all available sources, including any servers the user has access to, and VOD content, depending on what items are pinned on the sidebar.
ok my bad, could it be made a client side setting then?
I honestly don’t know what will happen, as mentioned here, we’re still looking into how the underlying desire here might be best addressed, but we don’t have anything specific to share right now.
“we’re still looking into how the underlying desire here might be best addressed”
This kinda confuses me because I feel like it’s pretty obvious lol
- The desire isn’t underlying, we just want continue watching and on deck to be separate.
- We get that some people like it so just make it optional for those that don’t
And I get that you don’t have anything definitive to say, I just wanted to clarify it a bit.

A simple solution that would appease both sides is to give us the option whether we want them merged or separate
For people (me) who shuffle a lot of series they have already seen, it can make Continue Watching overly lengthy and time consuming to scroll through it all to find a series that would normally be located in On Deck. Makes me just go in the library and browse if I know it’s buried.

Just give us an option, not that difficult

I haven’t seen the feature show up for me yet, but I’ve been trying to imagine how a merged group should theoretically work.
Does the new system place all partially finished episodes far left in the row?
Oldest far right (hopelessly hidden) - Newest somewhere near the left.
We’ve been at this since last December.
The Veterans in this thread know something has changed - when we have to try to work around it - good luck - to us all.
yeah like JuiceWSA said it’s chronological like it was before but for example say you started a movie last week, but didn’t finish it and since then you’ve watched 4 episodes from different tv shows, the next episodes for those shows would be further left than the movie you haven’t finished.
And doesn’t work correctly!

My plea would be for the Recently Added to only show the unwatched shows or of course as everyone else says the option to select that. When I am on top of my viewing the recently added often doesn’t show me anything useful unless I do a lot of scrolling. I usually go to the library views where I can set up a custom filter to show unwatched only sorted by recently added instead of using the hubs which is a shame. So not so bothered about the Home screen although I would like to use it more. Now turning a custom filter into a hub on the Home Screen that would be an amazing feature and we could customise to how we like.
The desire here is to have a lot more than just 10 items in Continue Watching on the Android TV client app.
If you don’t want that hub, you can disable it on the server side
The current public release of the Android app has fixed the issue with only 10 items being displayed, and PMS 1.23.0 (not yet released) will also link up the hub to the server preference for the item limit and weeks to consider.
