On Deck, Continue Watching & Recently Added

That is a bit disingenuous to push back on someone for something that was internally known, wasn’t listed anywhere in relation to 1.22.3 release notes (we aren’t tracking new articles, we’re tracking new forum posts and release notes - YOU know about the new support article but it’s not like users are scanning for it and as you said it says 1.23) and won’t actually be available until the next PMS update.

Edit: I think some of the Plex folks sometimes forget that users aren’t typically tracking Plex as centrally as they are - which makes sense, it’s your job - but I see regular communications make assumptions that would apply more to an internal employee’s awareness, not a common denominator user.

I said the preview of the article says 1.23, the actual article itself says 1.22.3, and yes, the release notes could have been clearer about it being out of beta, now that it’s the default agent, but it was mentioned in the Web Release I linked to previously and is available now for users who use the hosted web app at app.plex.tv/desktop, 1.23 will simply add that version of Plex Web to be the bundled version with PMS.

I still see 1.23:

I’m not trying to be argumentative here - and it’s off topic - but you keep stating things in a way that might be received better if you give additional consideration that your perspective on available\known info is different from the average user.

That must be an older, cached, version of the article from before it was revised. Try doing a force refresh. I am definitely seeing 1.22.3 in my version

One thing that seems broken with this latest server update is that the sorting of a library is not saved. Example: I have libraries specifically for certain types of movies like James Bond, Marx Brothers, Star Wars, etc. instead of lumping them in with general Movies library. Those specific libraries I like sorted by Release Date ascending. When I sort the library it looks fine. After I switch to another library and go back to the one I just sorted the sort order has changed back to Title instead of the Release Date. Please fix this ASAP. Thanks.

Force refresh made no difference to me. Still see 1.23 (Same in an incognito window) Same with Firefox

Then it must be cached somewhere else along the way from previous version (likely CloudFlare or another CDN). :psyduck_confusion:

Thanks! I’ve fed that back to our engineering team :plexheart:

EDIT: Is a regression in the web client, that will be addressed soon

Most people’s internet browsing works this way and is why internal folks who update websites generally keep in mind “others might not see this change yet” in discussions or communications about recent changes - particularly ones that haven’t been mentioned in other areas really.

Instead of “sorry for the confusion, it’s a recent change we haven’t clearly announced yet” you decided to die on the hill about 1.23 vs 1.22.3 being on us (you see it so it must be me). That kinda makes my point about communications from different perspectives leading to unnecessary misunderstandings.

Way off topic now so I apologize for that … but it could explain why this thread went sideways unnecessarily on some topics. All good though … it’s just forums and software - we aren’t saving the whales here. :slightly_smiling_face:

First of all, apologies for not earlier apologising for the confusion. I wasn’t trying to die on a hill, both myself and the lead dev for the TV had said independently it was out of beta as of 1.22.3, and it was mentioned as the default agent in the release notes for Plex Web, but it is unfortunate the old version of the article got cached, and is causing confusion, so sorry about that, we could have done better to be clearer here :plexheart:

Kudos, Dave for staying in this conversation even though there is some tension.

I went ahead and rebooted my PC where PMS resides and all is back to the way it was. Sorting works fine now. Also, the Recently Added libraries are back to normal the way I had them originally. Interesting. It’s as if the latest server update never took place.

Indeed. And the amount of information shared and level of individual engagement were commendable.

Definitely appreciate how much access we have and sometimes we take it for granted. I speak for myself here. Thanks @DaveBinM, and other folks, for being polite with some of our particularities.

Agreed… Thanks @DaveBinM for sticking with this one, even when it’s get tricky :plexheart:

If you don’t want Plex’s free Movie & TV recommendations either unpin the library or disable the media completely.
I don’t mind having it pinned but don’t want Plex suggedting anything from it. Since Plex insists on all or nothing I chose nothing. :slightly_smiling_face:

I use Sort or titles for movie collections to avoid having to sort by release dste.
Just start the Sort title with s number.

I have Plex Web Version 4.56.3 running and PMS Version 1.22.3.4392 currently running. The article here https://support.plex.tv/articles/manage-recommendations/ states that to have merge recently added you must have:

  • Plex Media Server v1.22.3 or newer
  • Plex Web v4.53.0 or newer

The option to merge recently added does not show up in plex web for me.

What am I missing everyone?

–EDIT–
@JTT Yep just needed a restart.
