The order should respect what you have set in the Manage recommendations page. As for the Recently Released Episodes. I don’t believe they were combined previously, were they?
Ah! I hadn’t seen that it was possible to change the order in Manage recommendations. That solves the weird ordering.
Can’t say if RRE was combined before since I didn’t need to have multiple libraries until recently. Perhaps someone that did can confirm (or say it wasn’t)? I’m just not seeing any reason for RRE being separated if it’s possible to combine RA. At least give us the option to combine.
Also, right now Home only shows the RRE hubs without any reference to what library it’s from. Will this be corrected? Makes it somewhat of a guessing game…
We should definitely be naming the library, and I’ll follow up on that internally. As far as I can remember, the only “combined” hubs were the Recently Added ones
adding another to your “follow up”… If you have same name collections, there’s no indication as to which library they are in. Example: I have a “Christmas” collection in two movie libraries, and another in an “Other/Home Movies” Library. All three collections show when you’re on a pre-play screen, but in this case, they all use “Movies in Christmas Collection”
Regarding the merging of Continue Watching with On Deck, I maintain that there is a clear difference between a partially watched movie, and the next episode of a TV series - it will be on different occasions that I am looking to watch one or the other of those things, and it makes more sense to me to keep them separate. Other people might prefer them to be shown together in one row, but there should certainly be the option to keep them separate.
I actually feel bad for the developers. They are all probably working crazy hours and pulling their hair out
I think they have been challenged with an almost impossible task in the time frame they are being given to make changes like introducing other apps and VOD inside of Plex
Even Amazon doesn’t do this well on Fire devices and Jeff Bezos has 50 million in his wallet
I think combining the CW and OD was just a shortcut to get the UI in the condition they need to implement the changes that are coming.
I also think that’s also why you’re seeing things roll out with mistakes (six items in your continue watching row, videos not showing duplicates, libraries reverting to Title View, names for libraries missing ect…)
Credit where credit is due…They did already fix some of that and they did listen to people who wanted the RA rows recombined
Hmm, that sounds like a bug. Continue Watching should always be at the top. Do you see this if you reset the hubs to the default in Manage Recommendations?
Yeah Dave I did do that and it didn’t seem to fix it. But it does appear to be a bug because it worked fine the 1st time I tried it in another library
So I went back to the one I was having issues with and swapped RA and RRE several times, checking each time I did it.
No luck for the first 10 times but then it just kicked in and everything was how it should be
In other words I had it the right way several times with no change but then it resolved itself
I moved it too many times to remember which I moved up or down phillipsw LOL
If your test is reproducible I suspect I was moving RA up at first then just got lucky by doing the reverse the last time it worked
That’s probably a good clue for the developers to figure out what’s going on
I was pretty sure CW wasn’t supposed to move, so something they need to look into for sure
That did it, thanks. Though I will note that it DID seem to mess with some of what I’d customized in Settings > Manage > Libraries… though inconsistently.
Can we get an option to hide Continue Watching in favor of each server’s On Deck, since it still exists if you select the server.
Or some client-side options for Continue watching to see which servers and sections we want to populate? Or the ability to set client-side limits to how long shows stay in On Deck/Continue watching instead of having to do it on the server admin end?
Hmmm, I’ve been trying to reproduce this for the last 30 minutes, but not having any luck, I’m afraid. Do you have any more details on how to reproduce?
Hi Dave. I’m curious, do you not see the behavior I described above? Without quoting my entire post, the behavior I see is that if I move Recently Added up (as opposed to moving Recently Released down), Continue Watching is demoted. However, if I move Recently Released down, Continue Watching remains at the top. Library customizations are reset between each move.
Perhaps it’s just a quirk of my system, but it’s completely reproducible there.
