One movie not showing up

I'm having a hell of a time getting one movie to show up.  It's "101 Dalmatians (1961)".  I have followed the naming guide and made sure it is spelled correctly, just like above.  All my movies are in a Movies folder, and each movies is in it's own subfolder as so:

Movies ---> 101 Dalmatians (1961) ---> 101 Dalmatians (1961).mkv

I also have poster art, .nfo files, etc. in each folder which is used for my Boxee Box.  The file is a .mkv that is encoded in h.264.  So I'm pretty sure it's not a naming or format issue.  I was actually able to get it to show up at one point, but then it disappeared when I deleted a different movie.  I just tried deleteing my entire library and re-creating one, but that did not help.  Anyone have any ideas?  Could this be a scanner glitch?

edit:  I'm using Plex Media Server 0.9.11.7.803 on Mac OS X 10.9.5

Movies with titles that start with numbers are a bit tricky.

That being said - Do you know that there are 2 movies with that title in existence?

You even cited the movie correct, but you did not name your file accordingly.

How should plex know which version it is, if you do not include the year in the file name?

I added a file named like this into my library and it was instantly recognized:

Movies ---> 101 Dalmatians (1961) ---> 101 Dalmatians (1961).mkv

I apologize, I mis-typed.  The movie folder and file are named correctly, they are "101 Dalmatians (1961)" exactly.  And yes, I am aware there are two movies with that title.

I think we need scanner logs this time.

Preparation:

1. remove 'Dalmatians' movie from plex's movie folder

2. update library

3. empty trash

4. clean bundles

5 activate logging if not already active

https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201643703

6. add 'Dalmatians' movie back in

7. let plex do its thing. After plex does not indicate any activity let it sit for 5 minutes, then end plex

8. zip up the server log and the scanner log and post them here

Quick question... how do I "Clean Bundles"?  I do not see the option under the gear icon.

Quick question... how do I "Clean Bundles"?  I do not see the option under the gear icon.

It should be there.

Take a look: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200392106-Library-Actions

Got it, was looking under the other gear icon!  Ok, so I've done all that and added the movie back in my Movies folder.  I should now "Update library"?

If it doesn't do that automatically, yes!

You are now at step 6.

It doesn't, despite the fact that I have the option to update automatically turned on.

Ok, here are my logs.  After the rescan, the movie actually showed up.  I closed the window and when I opened it over 5 minutes later... it was gone from the library!

Nevermind, it's there... it's under "One Hundred and One Dalmatians".  Hah!  I still have a problem with one file not showing up though...  I have a total of 279 movies, but yet in the library it says there are 278.  Is their an easy way to find out which one is missing?  I thought it was this movie!

Alright, you can then switch off the logging.

It is possible, that the procedure of steps 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 helped your issue.

You will probably need it sometime again, when you rename movie files after they have been already scanned by plex.

Regarding your missing movie:

There is a useful channel for this.

you can install it by hand or through the unofficial appstore

Awesome!  Thank you SO much for your help!!

@interconnect Thank you so much. I literally had this exact problem. I can’t believe a google search of “plex one movie missing” got me here.
I’ll never find it under “O” in the future… oh well…
