Only accessible outside my network if I'm connected to VPN

So, this is weird. After several years with no problems at all, my Plex server stopped being accessible sometime about a week ago. I have not changed anything at all on my network or in Plex. It worked for years, and then it just stopped. When I tried to reconnect, the server status would go green for about five seconds before crapping out and saying unaccessible again. I’ve rebooted the network and the Plex server and the PC several times with no change, so I figured it was a buggy Plex update from last week.

Today, on a whim, I connected to my VPN and then tried to reconnect the server. To my surprise, it connected and stayed connected. As long as I keep my VPN turned on, Plex is happy. Within a minute of disconnecting my VPN, my Plex server becomes unaccessible.

What on earth could be causing this, and how do I fix it? I don’t want to keep the VPN on all the time on my main desktop PC.

Sorry man, I got nothing… The only issue I could see would be that 32400 (default plex port) is in use by something else… But that doesn’t exactly fit the symptoms here… The only other thing I can think of, and it’s a long shot in this case, is when you go to Network and Internet, is your network reading as a “Public Network” or a “Private Network”? Sometimes, windows uses Public Network even though you’re on a Private Network, and that causes weird errors like this…
