Only getting 480p on Plex - Solved

I’m using a HDHomeRun Flex 4K (Model: HDFX-4K) Firmware: 20220822.
When I connect to it via the HDHomerun App I get 1080 on the HD channels. But when I go through my Plex server all I can get is 480. On Roku, on my phone, and on my laptop. I have played with the transcoding settings. Currently this is how I have it set.

Transcoder quality - Make my CPU hurt
Transcoder Temp Directory - Blank
Transcoder default throttle buffer - 60
Background transcoding x264 preset - Slow
Enable HDR tone mapping - Checked
Disable video stream transcoding - NOT checked
'Use hardware acceleration when available - Not Checked
Use hardware-accelerated video encoding - Checked
Maximum simultaneous video transcode - Unlimited

Anyone got any ideas what I’m doing wrong?

Server Version#: 1.28.2.6151
Player Version#: Various
Tuner Make/Model: HDHomeRun FLEX 4K
Guide/Lineup name: Local Broadcast Listings (108 channels)
Using XMLTV?: no
Channel number/Name: all HD channels

Based on my set up that works some suggestions:

  1. Background transcoding x264 preset = Very Fast. Slow means slow transcoding which forces PLEX to provide the easiest resolution - otherwise you’d get chopping and lockups waiting on the transcoder.
  2. 'Use hardware acceleration when available - Checked. If your video card supports HW encoding. I think the HDFX-4K does.

I can play most everything at original quality on my LAN and local devices,
and up to 720 remotely.

That worked. It’s working great now. Thanks!!
