PLEX on TV Samsung QE55Q70A doesn't switch audio tracks in a movie

Server Version#: 4.63.0
Player Version#: 5.28.2
When using PLEX on my TV Samsung QE55Q70A, I have problems with audio tracks in the movies, where there are multiple translations:

  1. TV App doesn’t show the NAMES of the tracks (it shows only language and stereo mode instead) - it’s not good when you have 3-5 translation tracks in the movie
  2. When playing the movie, if I change the audio track - it doesn’t actually change.

When using PLEX on my old TV Samsung UE55F6650 with the same server, it works OK, no problems in TV App

I can confirm the same thing on a Samsung q70a. If I untick allow direct stream, it will work, but this will always transcode

Please provide some logs to help debug.

  1. When you open the app, go to Settings → Advanced and enable Logging to Server
  2. Reproduce the issue
  3. Go to the plex web app
  4. Settings → Manage → Troubleshooting
  5. Download Logs
  6. PM me the downloaded logs from above.

Sample files, media information and screenshots are also really helpful.

Thanks

Screen photo about language and stereo modes instead of NAMES of the tracks - it is very inconvenient. At this screen I expected to see NAMES of the tracks (names of the studios), just like it appears in PLEX on my old Samsung UE55F6650

Having the same problem on QA65QN90AAWXZW.

I have sent a pm to you with log file.

@mad_rabbit @riomusi it looks like the logs you sent me didn’t have logging to server enabled. Please turn it on on your TV per my instructions above and resend the logs.

I logged as you asked and sent it to you via message

Hi! Do you solve the problem? I have the same one :frowning:

Please follow PLEX on TV Samsung QE55Q70A doesn't switch audio tracks in a movie - #3 by sLumpy and send the log to @sLumpy

Ok. Wrote to @sLumpy and sent logs.

Can confirm I am having the same issue on QN50QN90A running Plex 5.10.0 and server version 1.24.5.513. If the first audio track is not English it will play that track even with English selected. Selecting English or the foreign audio continues playing foreign audio. With direct stream and direct play both ticked this is how it currently functions, if I disable direct play and let it run off direct stream it seems to play as intended.

Same here on QN93 series …

@sLumpy Are you still in need of logs or samples for this issue or you have enough info and working on something to fix this ?

Same Problem on Q65Q70A

Here are some logs, the movie that have the problem is Dune.

If I decide to translate the video to a different bitrate or resolution in the plex client, the audio will switch correctly.
Note that the Plex server Dashboard show that the correct request language is played but in fact it’s not the good one on the TV

Same problem here with a QE55LS03. I have another TV QE75Q77TA and the switch works. with both it is the same client version 5.28.2 but with the 55’ the platform version is 6, and the other one it s version 5.5

Exactly the same problem with me (QN90A). It says that it’s playing bulgarian 2.0 but it’s still playing english 5.1… Plex app is 5.29.1.
On my old Samsung EU40ES6100 Plex app works with absolutely no issues!
It’s a shame that things actually are getting worse than getting better…

Please Plex make something it s annoying. UP

Can confirm the problem with QN90A. This is realy a showstopper for me. Please fix this!

It’s sad that after changing my 7-year-old 32 inch Samsung TV for a brand new 65 inch (QE65QN93AATXXC), I have lost an important feature! Another victim here.
