This looks really interesting, just not really understanding how the Odroid works. If you load OpenPHT onto the SD card (like the Rpi) and also have the eMMC module with linux/android pre-installed, which does it boot off ? Bit confused…
The eMMC is an image-able chip. You should be able to load the Rasplex/OpenPHT onto the eMMC module just like a MicroSDHC card. I will confirm if it’s worth the extra money once the parts arrive.

It will always boot of the eMMC first, unless you modify the boot.
For OpenPHT this is no point buying an eMMC, add nothing really, save your money!
If you’ve already bought one then flash OpenPHT for Odroid onto it, same as you would for an SD card.

Just received my unit today. OpenPHT will NOT run on the eMMC chip. It will flash and unpack, but will not boot. It just hangs with # in the commandline. So a total waste of money at this time if you’re using it for OpenPHT.
MicroSD card works great though.
Interesting. I debated over eMMC vs SD card and went SD card since a guy at work had an extra one I could use. The C2 should be here in a few days. I was worried about what I’d miss out on, guess just missing out on not booting. I’m sure it’s something simple tho since it’s based on libreelec and that works fine. Prob just need for the devs to get an eMMC and work it out or get some logs.

It’s available now, check the ‘Enable Dolby Digital (AC3) transcoding’ in Audio Output.
You will need to have this enabled if you have any AAC5.1 content as there is no 5.1 LPCM at the moment.
Regards
That doesn’t work for me as there is no AC3 support. The TV only supports 2 channel PCM. So the setting I’m looking for is: “Support 8 channel DTS-HD audio decoding” so it’s decoded to 2 channel PCM.

I’m sure they could get it working. I think they might just stick with SD media as it’s already working. Unless it’s ridiculously simple to fix or there was a nice trade off.
There’s a load of new AML code patches in the next release, I have just disabled all Passthrough on that release and kept all other settings as default and played a 7.1 DTS movie, doesn’t seem to exhibit the issue you are experiencing.
Have you made sure that Keep audio device alive is disabled?

So is everything going to be transcoded to ac3?
Yes. If you have a receiver that supports AC3 but not DTS, it restores proper surround sound support.

Is the problem just with DTS 7.1? Can passthrough be turned back on for the rest?
@NedtheNerd said:
it depends on the capabilities of your AVR, if no DTS support then just check everything else.
Yea it can. Was worried that you disabled it for the next release and it couldn’t be enabled for other codecs
Just like to say a huge thank you to the people who created this version. Over the years I have used a Minix X7 with Xmbc and every major model of Raspberry Pi. Finally with the C2 I am satisfied, fast and so far no hanging, amazing. Do I donate through Rasplex site (thats how satisfied I am).
Hi,
Openpht works great with my C2 ! Thanks for the good job.
Is there a way to turn on the odroid c2 with IR ? I am able to shutdown the board with my remote (an old microsoft mc remote), it also shutdown my TV (via CEC), but impossible to turn-on the board unless i disconnect the power cable !
Thanks @NedtheNerd for answer.
Another question please, Is their any known issue about HDMI-CEC since when you start a film or when you touch the remote arrows or keyboard, the TV do not always start (if it is off) or do not always switch to the odroid source (when another source is selected). sometimes works / sometimes doesn’t.
