Windows SmartScreen could block the installer, use the Run anyway option to install
Auto-update of windows portable installs will fail and corrupt your portable install
I installed 1.7.0 on my Windows 10 machine.
I thought it would solve the problem with IOS app control.
Now I cant even select OpenPHT as player on my Iphone Plex app, any one else with this problem?
I built 1.7.0 from source on ubuntu 16.04.1
cmake -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Debug -DCOMPRESS_TEXTURES=on -DUSE_INTERNAL_FFMPEG=off -DENABLE_AUTOUPDATE=off -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/opt/openpht “~/OpenPHT-1.7.0.133-21c0dc37”
I also get the crash
First time user of OpenPHT, so sorry if this is a known issue.
Installed OpenPHT 1.7 on a fresh Ubuntu GNOME yakkety and the screen is flickering extremely much when moving around the menus (VSync setting doesn’t matter) and playing a video the video freezes (even though I hear the sound) and OpenPHT is unresponsive (can’t stop the video/exit) but I can switch to other applications so the system works.
The system is an older Asus Zenbook (UX31E) with Intel graphics.
I just installed on macOS: everything works fine. The Harmony remote didn’t register at the launch, but after switching to Apple remote and back it started working without any problems.
The most anticipated feature for me has been Audio Output Device quick select option in the Menu during the playback and a shortcut key command that could be assigned to Harmony remote custom buttons. When asked for this feature in one of the threads, we were promised that it will be implemented to this release, but I wasn’t able to find such an option. Am I missing something, or it hadn’t been implemented?
Thanks for reporting the crash and plex companion issues, recommend that you skip 1.7.0 for now and wait on a 1.7.1 hotfix release (eta in a day or two).
@lukemz please try with latest git head, a few crash fixes have been pushed.
Looks pretty solid… nice work… can confirm that 4.4.1 and 4.5 on ipad and iphone working fine with 1.7 on both my pi and macbook…
I still think that overall plex has token and certificate issues… once the tokens were in place things use to be very stable but I am finding that I am having to log out and log in clients and servers… never had to do that in the past and also noticing that my tokens change all the time now…
My feeling is that plex is getting ready to pull the plug on all free services…
Look at the writing on the wall
All server version that could work without logging a token are no longer downloadable at plex
They have changed the way the apps work…
Once they flip the token required switch that requires you to have a paying account … its all over…
I have build OpenPHT 1.7.0 on Ubuntu 14.04 and made portage to NAS (QNAP and Asustor)
… even I have not tested all … I don’t fall in any major problem
After reading the issues … etc. I don’t clearly understand what is faulty in 1.7.0
Is problems also occurs in Linux version ??
It’s not a problem to wait for some days (or more) … just to understand (and perhaps if it’s on Linux … to help … )

There where several crash reports submitted in a rather short period and the most noticeable one is to press P (play) without any item selected on the home screen, should result in an instant crash.
That crash is fixed in latest git head but are also testing out a webserver fix for improved plex companion support.
Hey there. Thx. alot to all who help/make OpenPHT possible/better – I’m loving it.
v1.6.2 is running on a RasPi 3B (since a week - wanted to gain 3D playback capability) and i’m really flashed what this little box is capable of.
2 things popped up:
a) TV Theme Music
it doesn’t matter to which percentage i set it, it gets played at full volume all the time (and because most of them are encoded just in stereo – they usually are much louder then the general level of played tv/movie titles; can then be ‘shocking’ loud at times).
b) 3D Playback
did only some tests up until now. on some titles the 3D playback isn’t engaged automatically (pure 2D playback). but if i change playback mode to OU/SBS (and only when i let OpenPHT ask me beforehand via alternate mode choice) then they play back fine (and it looks like full resolution). inspecting these ones doesn’t show any differences (file naming “.3d.mvc.”, tags like “Stereo High / MultiView Count: 2”).
how are your observations? does someone have any tipps, how to resolve them (or maybe will v1.7.(1) solve any of it)?
Solved the screen flickering and video freeze issue on my system.
On Ubuntu 16.10, Intel driver gen4 and later uses the modesetting driver in Xorg by default. Switching to the intel driver with UXA made it work.
Now I have an issue that the UI freezes after a while when in the menus, gonna see if I can figure it out, I’ve had a similar but less occurring issue on my Mac with Plex HT.
