OpenPHT for Odroid C2 - Information and Tips

If i disable the CEC then C2 hangs when switching, there is blue led on the c2 who blinking all the time but when CEC is turned off and switch from Cable tv to C2 then it stop blinking and get no HDMI signal anymore.

Something definitely wrong, suggest reflashing, you can turn of the flashing blue light, see the first post in this topic for how to.

samplex: if you are running 1080p/60 try 1080/24 or 2160p/30 and see if it does it. I know some of the libreelec builds over on the odroid forum froze up with 50/60p on 1080 on input switching.

BTW mine froze up on the libreelec kodi C2 builds but not on openPHT so if that is what you are suffering from maybe it varies per person depending exactly when this version was pulled from the libreelec c2 stuff… The latest libreelec 7.1 build from wrxtasy from july 18th fixed it for me as well as others I believe. He added a bunch of updated AML kernel stuff I believe.

Preferences>Gear>Input Devices>CEC Adapter>When Tv Is switched off

What is this set to?

LibreELEC 7.1 is in next release.

I have a small question please.
I have Passthrough enabled and AC3 transcoding enabled.
On certain films I am not able to modify the volume. (volume amplifier is grey), I can imagine it is because of passthrough but why does this work with some films and other not ? (transcoding?)

Nice. I’ve been following over there and it looks like a lot of progress has been made in the last week or so’s builds. I have an extra microsd card I updated with those builds just to see how things are progressing. I’m telling you, after years of PHT its nice to see OpenPHT tracking pretty close to what they are doing there.

I first read this I thought, if the TV is off how can the user see what it’s set to.

Excuse my ignorance, but the method to install OpenPHT via RasPlex installer has to be done after installing the base Ubuntu 16.04 , yes? Thanks

No, you don’t install any OS, OpenPHT has its own OS, just flash the SD card.

First thanks to the team for keeping PHT alive, I was a huge fan of OpenPHT on my mac mini and recently switch to the C2 for better support of 4k content.

Now I have a little issue I can’t resolve, it seems like every 1-3 mins there is some slight stutter looks like 2 stuts and then smooth playback again until the next time. I have refresh rate switching set to on start/stop and pass trough on,
sync playback to display OFF, my Panasonic tv switches correctly to 24hz.

I didn’t have this stutter when playing from mac mini with the same settings except sync playback to display was set to ON, but if I do that on the C2 the audio is out of sync.

Hope that someone can explain whats the reason for this and maybe a solution, thanks.

Try:

Adjust display refresh rate - Always
Pause during refresh rate change - Off
Sync playback to display - Unchecked
Video render method - Auto detect
Allow hardware acceleration - Checked
Use FFMPEG AVIO for Network transport - Unchecked

Audio offset - -75ms
Keep audio device alive - Unchecked

Thanks Ned, I will try your suggestion and report back.

Your efforts and this thread motivated me to get one of these boards to replace my RasPi B. It works like a charm and I could not be happier.

Thanks!

Oke, got it working now!

Disabled the CEC like @NedtheNerd said and changed MyHarmony remote settings for the MCE extender profile.
The problem was that the harmony remote when switching from Cable TV to Plex/C2 or turning off the TV the Ordoid C2 hang or give a black screen. Turns out that the Harmony remote turn off the C2, that’s why the blue light wasn’t blinking anymore.

Removed the trigger to turn off the C2 when switching to a other source like Cable tv or turning everything off.

Thanks all for your help.

Ps @NedtheNerd any luck on the eCMM module?

@NedtheNerd I have now tried the settings with different movies, but sadly it didn’t make a difference hope you got some suggestions.

@coz2001 This is just a hunch, but have you tried a different power supply for the ODroid? I seem to recall similar issues and boot loops when using an underpowered PS.

@coz2001
I’ve seen this stutter when the video and audio is attempting to sync. Happens mostly with h265 content at the beginning of play, then smoothes out once it’s sync’d up unless I’m seeking.

Are you using WiFi?
