OpenPHT for Odroid C2 - Information and Tips

OpenPHT will not run from an eMMC.

Do you have a reason this will not load from EMMC or have you just not tested. Theres no difference in the builds for SD or EMMC on anything else. Writing to the device is the same. And the odroid automatically boots from it if its installed. I will test once I know I can use this at all.

Do you know if this will work on a C1? I use 3 for Kodi and they run it beautifully. Even the biggest themes run smoothly. So I am hoping to try plex.

OpenPHT now boots from an eMMC chip as of version 1.7.1. Why not try a C1 and see if it works? I don’t have a unit to test with.

This may have been noted elsewhere, but what’s the best way to upgrade to 1.7.1 while maintaining user skins/settings? I’m on 1.6.2 on the C2 in the pre-release channel, and it says there’s no updates. I’ve got my odroid really dialed in, and don’t want tot have to start from setup scratch if I can avoid it.

Thanks in advance.

hmmm… this was an oversight on our part. I thought we had resolved it, but it seems we oversought the original oversight, and now none of the C2 users have been able to update.

I’ll try and sort you out soon.

[edit]
Until we can get the update channel fixed: Download this file and drop it into your .update folder and reboot. All should be well after that.

Thanks. I figured I was just missing something as a newb. Will give it a shot tomorrow night when I have time to trouble shoot.

On vacation right now but I will sort that out as soon as I get back

Has anyone tried x265 4k files, that have a bit rate of around 60 megs and overal file size of 70GB?

Not that I NEED to play these files, just curious.

Currently my Chromebox does 1080p x265 just fine, but high cpu usage. In 4k resolution and x265, this is just a no go.

Did a backup and ran the update last night. Went off without a hitch. I do see some formating issues in the Plex Black Skin, and the background image on the settings page is light grey making the white text hard to read (that may also be related to the Ple Black skin), but everything seems to be working great.

I will likely have a followup regarding the optimized/best match/something else audio setting, just can’t remember it off the top of my head now. In one of the settings, I was getting distortion on FLAC files in 1.6x, hoping this is fixed in 1.7.

Thanks for all your work.Threw some bones your way.

EVERYONE - THIS IS SUPER IMPORTANT. I’m not affiliated with OpenPHT/Rasplex in any way, I’m a simple user, and if you love this software, go to rasplex.com and donate, even if it’s a little bit. These folks are doing incredible work making our digital lives better, jumping in where the Plex developers left off on a fantastic interface that runs on simple hardware with lots of customization, full features, and intuitive use. Drop them a tip, $25, $10, $1…everything helps.

@DeadEyeFlint has been away recently. If there are any Black Edition bugs, I’m sure he’ll squash them when he gets some free time.

Appreciate the support. All donations go to development expenses. We try to use as many free tools as possible, but we still end up spending our own money. So not a tip really, but less of our own money we’re spending to keep things going.

@Everyone - If you enjoy OpenPHT/Rasplex and would like to see development continue, drop a few bones into our development war chest. Any and all support is appreciated.

Great idea - a few more bones added. I love the enthusiasm for this project and hope it will be able to continue and prosper.

Donation incoming, can’t afford to loose the best plex client ever, keep op the good work…

Hey guys,

At first, I must say that you are doing an amazing work with this project. Everything works flawlessly for me except one thing, that it’s very strange IMHO.

Right now I am using Odroid C2 + official Wifi Module 5 Odroid + OpenPHT. The problem is that the 5Ghz band does not work in OpenPHT (it does not happens with other dualband dongles, different brand), but 2,4ghz works perfectly. I don’t know if, from OpenPHT team. you know if exists any issue between odroid official dongles and the current build.

Thanks a lot for your work!

I have Odroid C2 with 16GB eMMc. It has Android OS flashed already.

What steps do I need to do to get OpenPHT installed??

Thanks!

You have a thread for this opened already. I’ve answered you there.

I don’t have that dongle, but sounds like a driver issue. What version of OpenPHT are you using?

On Kodi and OpenPHT on my Odroid C2, VC-1 flies are unplayable with hardware acceleration on. Constant stutter. Any ideas?

From post #1 of this thread:

"Direct Plays virtually everything you throw at it apart from those codecs listed below.

–Interlaced Bluray Rips containing VC-1 content have stuttering playback. Normal VC-1 Movie Rips fine.

–No VP9 decoding, will be transcoded by PMS."

These are not interlaced though. All my progressive scan VC-1 blu-rays have issues.

OpenPHT is based on LibreElec, which is a branch from Kodi. Looks like there’s some AML clock timing issues being worked on upstream from us.
