Now its doing the same thing that gavin_ramm@hotmail.com mentions above. Anyone have a cure for this issue. Would be appreciated. Thank you

You should consider creating your own thread and use a descriptive title. More folks will be inclined to read and try to help that way.

The issue you and gavin mention is totally different than what the original issue was in the first post for this topic.
Gavin never started a new topic as was suggested.
If searching the smart Tv section of the forum for the word “hisense” brings up no helpful topics, I’d gather server logs, and if you can find instruction on how to gather, smartTV app logs, and post a new thread.

I noticed that Plex has shown back up on the Vewd on my Hisense TV. I had an issue where it couldn’t find my server , however I fixed that and now it seems to freeze, then a prompt saying “Not Available” in blue a transparent blue box flashes up then plex says it can’t be loaded due to an error and I have to exit.

I would love to get this going…

Same here, prior to uninstalling PLEX i could get avi files to play but not mkv files. Now stuck with open PLEX via Opera store tile which opens VEWD interface with the PLEX app showing Open but goes to a PLEX startup but after awhile a “NOT AVAILABLE” appears. There is no PLEX tile in APPS anymore.

Any ideas?

Yes.

Start your own thread. Very few people are going to find this issue buried inside of my thread for another problem

Title of thread:

Opera TV is now VEWD, and Plex is no longer working!!!

This is my issue too!!

I have used a Sony Blu Ray player, BDP-S2100, via Opera and PLEX when visiting family. Today I discovered when I visited again, that PLEX is no longer functioning as it used to. So I found this thread… It seems to me from my tests so far, about to give up by the way, that short videos still work after a delay, but longer videos seem to stall during the initial buffering process, as the player stops requesting the buffered data at full speed, still maintaining a black screen, then the PLEX server seems to stop trying to serve the stalled video stream, then the player display a message saying “There was a problem playing this item - the video did not start playing in time”.

I think what we are seeing is a combination of SERVER changes in coding, and changes in the Opera PLEX player combining to give us all varying issues depending on the specific devices we are using.

I think that the longer video is waiting for a larger buffer to stream, but the buffer may be full and no longer able to cache on these limited devices.

I believe that any one of these options would allow the combination to work again…

  1. Somehow reduce the streaming bit rate, effectively reducing the needed buffer size, (does not seem to be adjustable on local LAN, and I am not at the remote server to change my settings there.) possibly an added option on the server to reduce bit rates and/or buffer sizes by browser type at the server would work.

  2. At the plex server code level, till the issues are resolved fully, enable an option to enable extreamly low bit rate/buffer sizes for Opera Browser streams. (extreamly fast transcoding as this would mainly be to just get things to do something for now!)

My Sony blu-ray player did not have PLEX until they changed to VEWD and I have zero problems with it. That being said - any theories about the coding of the current apps and incompatibilities are not correct …

umm… if it used to work well, with no problems, as it did in my case, and now only short videos seem to work normally, with longer videos no longer being able to play, with NO changes other than app updates, (server and player via Opera), how could anything other than app coding and/or incompatibilities be to blame?

I am open to other possibilities, but I am unable to think of any other scenarios for such changes on player functionality. Maybe even an option to change the size of the buffer size at the player/server side with a method to auto-sync the buffer size settings between the player and server would be a real fix.

This thread was started because the app simply no longer worked. That has been resolved for at least most of that participated up to this point.

If you’re still having issues, you’ll likely fare better by starting your own thread to discuss the details and/or working directly with Plex to understand where the problem actually lies. From what I understand, the issue was never the Plex app for Opera but was, instead, brought on by changes made when Opera was acquired / renamed (or whatever).

I see no method to work directly with anyone in PLEX, I would be happy to do so however. All I see is multiple notes and messages saying that “Support questions submitted through the contact form will go unanswered” and everything that is unanswered in the faqs and docs should be posted to the forums. Since my observations were directly related to this post, I was only attempting to get information somehow to those that can look into the obvious coding issue. Even if it may be a situation where multiple code changes on various platforms may be combining to cause the end result, it can still be and should be addressed at the programming/configuration level. Any other action, or lack thereof is to either ignore that there is a problem, or to be taking a position that a problem is unsolvable.

It ultimately will not affect me, since I have other options to do what I need to use PLEX with other players, or not use PLEX at all. The only reason I spent as much time with my Blu-ray player on this was to be able to better understand the failure mechanism leading to video files not playing. So that I could aid the community in hopefully helping to resolve the issues, that have somehow been introduced into the user experience, making devices that formerly operated well with PLEX into non-usable platforms.

While I could start a new thread, it would just duplicate what this thread started with, then have no history of anything that may have occurred for resolutions already attempted so far connected to the topic.

Your issue has nothing to do with original post.
Please start new thread. Include the standard information needed for troubleshooting, logs after reproduction, server os, pms version, etc etc.
Original post was Opera changed names and back end, Plex broke for many. Vewd worked (perhaps by poke from Plex) to restore Plex. Its now restored for most.
We’re not saying you don’t have valid issue, we’re attempting to explain this topic original issue has been corrected, and an answer was selected by the person who started it.

This issue is resolved check out the following post.

It seems that there’s a partial fix for SOME product owners? And it has nothing to do with the Sony BluRay players we are discussing here that I can tell… If that’s accurate, I wouldn’t say that the information on the other thread indicates that “the issue is resolved.”

I got a question for you guys, I’m in the market for a new tv, I’m looking at Sony as a potentional option, specifically the kd-60x690e
I played around with one today, opened the apps section and browse to the opera tv icon, I guess I see it’s now being referred as vewd, anyway I searched for plex and there it was, opened it, linked it to my server and playback fine I suppose. When I exit the app and went back in to the TVs app page, plex wasn’t there. How does one keep it there? If installing plex natively on this tv isn’t an option, then I won’t bother.
Thanks

You will need to add to TV Favorites from Vewd.

From spec attached my concern is support for mkv and many audio codecs. LPCM is good if you have a receiver. From what I’m reading I would not recommend as direct play will be restricted.

Piggybacking a thread that isn’t directly relevant to your question won’t yield a lot of feedback. Start your own thread to get better replies.

Or, just buy a 900E or 900F set.
