this is the only one i have seen:
https://www.plex.tv/about/privacy-legal/privacy-preferences/
Is there no option for opt out on anything?
Apparently no.
This from the page:
This page describes the data we may collect and allows you to opt-out of providing certain pieces of information to us.
There is literally a check box on that page he linked you.
There is literally no check mark for opting out of all the collection of data. Read what you are opting out of when you uncheck the opt out option (which BTW, why do I have to “Opt-out”, it should be “Opt-in”).
From the box with the check box:
If you uncheck this button, the playback data listed above will not be collected or sent to Plex.
So it will still send:
_Account Information
We store general information about your account and your subscription plan if you have a Plex Pass. This includes your plan type (e.g., monthly, yearly, lifetime), how you purchased it (e.g., in-app purchase on iOS), and how much you paid (e.g., $4.99 USD).
We also store information that tells us how you learned about Plex when you signed up or purchased a subscription (ex: you clicked on an ad in Google search results, or came in via an email promotion).
Plex collects data about the specific version of the applications you are using to connect to our services.
We also collect information from the device that you use to access Plex services. Collecting this information allows us to invest our engineering resources to improve our applications on the platforms that would benefit the most customers.
Network / Session Data
When you connect to Plex services, we also collect some information about your network and your connection._
That check box allows you to opt out of “certain information”. They are still collecting information on you.
In addition, the way the page is setup and worded, it is not completely clear if ALL play back data is being “opted out” of.
It states, " the playback data listed above will not be collected" but does that mean all playback data or just the “Optional Playback” data that is in the section listed directly above the check box.
To better clarify it would be helpful if the check box was above ALL the data that will not be collected and the sentence changed to say “all data listed below will not be collected”.
I personally do not care as I do not share my stuff with lots of people and all of my stuff is legally obtained (which are the main reasons many people object). I was merely pointing out that it is still ambiguous and there is still data being collected, there is no way to opt-out of all data collection, which is what I think the poster I was responding to was asking.
