Server Version#:1.42.2.10156
Player Version#:5.93.2
A few days ago my optical audio output stopped working when using the Plex app on my LG OLED55BXPUA tv. The “Plex for LG” app is client version 5.93.2 w/ WebOS version 5.6.1-6. The Plex server running on my Windows 11 computer is version 1.42.2.10156. The optical output on the LG tv is definitely working as I have audio when using anything other than the “Plex for LG” app. Also if I play a movie directly on the Plex Server in Windows the tv’s optical output works fine. Any help that you can provide would be kindly appreciated.
SOLVED: Not a plex problem. The latest LG WebOS upgrade reset Settings–>Sound–>Additional Settings–>Digital Sound Out to AUTO which DOESN’T work for me. Changed it back to PCM and now all is good.
Could my issue have anything to do with the current Amazon AWS outage or is that just a ridiculous thought? My Ring system is not working now either. Does “Plex for LG” depend on any AWS services to work?

Ok this had nothing to do with the Amazon AWS outage.
In attempting to debug this issue, I tried playing a bunch of different movies with the Optical audio output selected. Some of them work correctly. The ones that have sound are of the following audio types:
Stereo FLAC
Stereo DTS
Mono DTS
PCM
The movies that work are mostly older ones. Any newer movies with surround sound or Dolby do NOT work. This has to be an incorrect setting in either my Plex Server or my Plex for LG client. But I’ve looked at all the “audio” type settings and can’t seem to find anything that would make a difference. Can someone help me…please?
Ok, I did some more testing and realize that this is NOT a Plex issue. It’s my LG tv. Every app on the tv will no longer play audio though the Optical output. I guess something changed in the LG WebOS software with the latest upgrade. I will call this SOLVED and move to another website to find a resolution for the tv. Sorry for any confusion I might have caused…
