Option on how metadata is stored (xml or db file)

Short version… please allow us to have an option to have the metadata stored to how it was before (in the xml files)… This also allows us to do edits that you cant do in plex (like the cast of the show)

Long version… I really don’t like that all the metadata is stored in a single file that you cant edit easily… I have some metadata files for shows that created using a script (when it was stored in xml files).

I needed to make changes some of these shows and now I have to do everything by hand.

Also I was thinking of resetting up plex (metadata and all) when I switch from DSM 6 to 7 instead of the migration, but now I have to do the migration.

Something like this?

plex already supports xml (or did if they removed it)

i know i can have plex read nfo files with a plugin called lambda… but it requires having library on something other than Plex’s Agent (switching agents makes my whole library refresh metadata) and converting the xml files i have to the nfo requires more editing (since the formats are different)

It doesn’t and never did.
3rd-party plugins don’t count.

plex used xml files to store the metadata before it was moved to the DB file with everything else.
it was not a 3rd party plugin or anything

No, it didn’t.
