There’s been a couple of threads about this already but I want to bump it again here (also posted this in http://forums.plexap…200#entry340116 before realizing there’s this forum as well…):

Short version: I (and many others) would like the ability to organize movie extras along with the movie.
Long Version: For TV shows, matching specials already exists. Unfortunately, TMDB does not track extras (i.e. on movie blurays), so when ripping those, there’s no decent way to get them scanned into Plex. Sure, you can always create a “Movie extras” subsection and manually put them in there, but that way they are unorganized and don’t ‘belong’ to the movie. I know the meta data isn’t there, but all I’m asking for is something like this:
[]Scan the movie folder[]If more video files are found in sub folders or besides the main movie, add them into a special “extras” category, using the filenames[]When editing metadata (in the media server), group extras as logical children of the main movie, allow the user to easily edit the names (i.e. “Making Of”)[]When in a client, show a sub section in the movie’s menu, allowing you to navigate to extras
Sounds like it can be done, but I’d love to have feedback on this! Thanks!

Extras are mentioned here as well:

Since they are related, it would probably be good to keep conversations/votes/likes under the same thread.
This feature is essential. I name the extra the same as the movie name and add a suffix like this: _extra1, _extra2, etc.
The files group together ans use the same meta and poster as the movie which is fine but they stack which is not fine. If PMS sots alpha/numeric which it does the movie is always the first file and the _extra1, etc follows. It works. the problem is I ave to go into media manager and un-stack manually. A lot of work.
The problem I see with this, is that it requires people to actually populate the metadata for extras in MovieDB.
I cant see many people being bothered to do this, nowhere near the same scale as for crowd sourcing of movie metadata.
I agree that Plex should support this for those that want it, but they should realise that they will be largely manually filling in metadata, names and art for these files rather than scraping them automatically.

Please like/upvote https://forums.plex.tv/topic/52670-movie-and-tv-extras/ instead of this post, it seems to have the most votes currently.
early 2021 clean-up: duplicate / implemented (local extras)
