I’ve been using Plex off and on over the last few years. I was blown away with the ease of Plexamp for remote music listening and decided to get a Plex Pass so I could continue to enjoy Plexamp.
Now that I’m more vested in Plex, I thought I would tackle another longstanding issue I’ve had regarding organizing films (mostly concert films). Many DVDs that I’ve ripped and added to my library have multiple parts, outtakes, etc., in addition to the title film. For example, in Bob Dylan’s “Rolling Thunder Review”, the package includes nine supplements in addition to the title film, all except one that I identified by viewing the film:
How would I go about organizing the film and the supplements so they are clustered together within Plex? When sorted by date added, all parts are clustered as they were added at the same time:

“Local Files for Movie Trailers and Extras” offer two ways to include Extras:
Inline
In Folders
Pick one.
Were it not for those dam reviews, we might be able to see this on one screenshot - but, NooooOOOOooo:
I use ‘Inline’ and the second version of the movie is NOT in the folder with the extras - and the folder with the extras is added to the library FIRST! - a Movie in 2 parts, like yours, CAN be included - in fact, it must:
Thanks for the tips and the pointers to Plex guidance. I’ve poked around a bit, some progress, but not totally where I’d like to be. I may circle back if I have additional questions.
And, I wouldn’t characterize my current set up as requiring Health and Safety Department intervention- just needing some Plex guidance. My set up has worked for me using Folder access view. I’m now trying to expand by using the Movie access view.
I know a lot of folks hang on to Folder View.
The fact is Plex isn’t designed for Folder View and it was only added after public outcry reached the appropriate level.
If you follow the instructions and name/structure your material so it can be matched - you don’t need folder view. Folder View is the worst way to use Plex - 'cause it’s an afterthought, duct taped on in a pit stop.
