Originally Available Date (For Albums in Music)

Server Version#: 1.26.0.5715

It looks like PMS is setting the day back 24 Hrs for the Originally Available Date for my Music.

I’m using “prefer local metadata” and, for example, I have in my FLAC file a Tag for DATE of 2021–09-10 (which concurs with Musicbrainz), but PLEX is using 2021-09-09 as the Originally Available Date.

If I have a FLAC DATE tag of 2021, PLEX is using 2020-12-31 as the Originally Available Date, and the Album displays 2020 as the Year.

This is an issue for me, as most of my Albums only have the Year set, and with the setting back a day in PLEX, it shows my album’s being released a year early.

Thanks to a reply I got in Reddit, the problem is how PLEX handles UTC and Local Time, I’m -4 UTC, so that explains why PLEX is entering a day prior to my FLAC Tag.

I reset my Pi to UTC, refreshed the Metadata, and now my Originality Available Dates are correct.
Resetting Pi back to Local Time and Originality Available Dates are now shown as the day prior as before, so looks like the PMS just needs to be updated to consider local time.

I noticed the same with 1.26.0.5715. I really hope this will be fixed in the next release. I changed a lot of dates on my server (music albums, movies, TV shows, etc.) It would be a real problem for me if we have to find everything and manually correct the dates.

Same issue I posted a couple days ago.

At least now I know it’s due to the way PLEX is handling dates with UTC, and not accounting for the users local time and not something on my end, so all we can do now is wait for the bug to be squashed
