Plex Music agent loading wrong date for album "Originally Available" field

The Plex Music aganet is loading an incorrect date for the ‘Originally Available’ album field. Instead of loading the Original Release Date metadata from FLAC file it appears to be loading the Year instead and defaulting the month and day to the current month/day.
Hence the ‘Originally Available’ date for all the albums have the day and month (i.e. when they were
added to the library).

I have uploaded some screenshots to highlight the issue. I have underlined the correct date that should be loaded in green.

I have setup a music library configured to use the Plex Music Agent/Scanner but with the ‘Prefer local metadata’ option enabled.

Server Version#: 1.20.2.3370
Player Version#:N/A

Plex unfortunately does not read the Original Release Time/Date field from embedded tags (FLAC, mp3, etc). It only get this field through matching the album with the online MusicBrainz service (which apparently has 2003-10-02 for this album).

Supporting more embedded tags is a long standing request.

I don’t believe that is correct.

What I observed is that the Originally Available date for all albums loaded was YY/10/02 and the year was the ‘Year’ tag from the music file.

I loaded my collectiona again the following day and the Originally Available date was set to YY/10/03. for all albums.

Also I changed the Year tag in a few of the the music files and reloaded the metadata. The change was reflected in year of the Originally Available date.

Yeah you’re right - that is a weird bug!

And it’s fixed now in build 1.20.4.3508:

(Library) When tags only have release year, don’t use current m/d, use 1/1.
