Hi everyone,
I’m trying to re-invite a former shared user after having removed them from my server some time ago. Every time I attempt to send a new invitation, Plex immediately returns the error “This user is already invited”, yet the username is completely invisible in all the usual places:
-
Not listed under Server > Manage Library Access
-
Not in the Requests tab (View All → Requests)
-
Not in Settings > Users & Sharing > Friends on plex.tv
-
Does not appear when searching in the Invite Friend dialog (no entry with a pending badge or × to revoke)
-
The other user has also checked their side: nothing shows under Settings > Authorized Devices > Server and no pending invitation is visible to decline/revoke.
What we have already tried (without success):
-
Checked and refreshed every tab multiple times (desktop web, mobile web, and apps)
-
Had the recipient log out/in on all devices
-
Removed the user as a friend globally (plex.tv → Friends → Remove Friend)
-
Restarted the Plex Media Server
-
Cleared browser cache and tried incognito/private mode
-
Waited 24–48 hours in case of propagation delay
The invitation record appears to be completely orphaned/stuck in Plex’s backend. This is a classic “ghost pending invite” situation that occasionally happens after a user is deleted from a home server.
Could a moderator or Plex staff member please purge the stuck invitation record for the affected username from the authentication servers? (I can provide both Plex usernames via private message if needed.)
Server OS: Ubuntu 22.04 / Synology DSM 7
Plex Media Server version: 1.41.0.8996
Web client version: latest (app.plex.tv)
Thank you in advance for any assistance!
