OSX Plex Media Server not showing my media, keeps wanting me to download it

I have Plex media server installed on a Macbook air. It is the latest version available. When I go to “Your media” it wants me to redownload Plex media server. This used to work, there was a tv and movie section and if I added anything there was an option behind the three vertical dots to rescan.

I take it you’ve claimed your server to begin with?

Another thought: did you previously have an instance of PMS installed on that machine, linked to a different Plex account?

Appreciate the response.

It just stopped working after a random update to the server application. I don’t recall having to do anything other than install it and create an account to get it working initially, which feels like at least a year ago. I did try to follow the instruction in the link you provided and when I do the open Plex step it just opens the Plex app as if I ran it from spotlight. Trying the open file alternative method…I don’t have a Plex Media Server folder in ~/Library/Application Support/

Interestingly, the Plex app on my fire stick can find my content so this is not that big of a deal, it’s just that I can’t see or manage the content locally.
