Every time I select "+ Your Media" it brings me to the download new server page

Server Version#:1.29.2.6364-6d72b0cf6
Player Version#: Not sure where to find.
I have also downloaded and installed the latest Plex Server, and it keeps asking me too.

I went and selected “Your Media” recently, it came up with a new screen that stated “Add your media to Plex”. Then it showed “Get Plex Media Server” , which I downloaded and installed. I downloaded the 64bit version, installed it, rebooted the computer and then tried to access my media again and had the same screen show up. So, I went and purchased the “Lifetime Plex Pass” and see if that would help, however unfortunately it did not.

My library directories are setup the same as before, I just cannot get my media to work. The “+ You Media” selection does not work anymore. It just always goes to the download new version screen.I really would like to get this fixed as I have a lot of Christmas Movies, I want to share with other Plex users of my server.

Please let me know the next step. Again, every time I select “+ Your Media” it brings me to the download new server page. Thanks very much for your help.

OMG, I just about pulled out all my hair trying to figure this out on my Synology server. I had the exact same version as you did, complete with the exact same symptoms. When I went to my Plex, I didn’t see my server listed at all, and every time I clicked the “Add your media to Plex” icon (the plus sign), it would just go to a download screen – just like you.

Fwiw, I’m running on a Synology NAS. I got this idea from this thread, btw:
https://forums.plex.tv/t/answered-synology-ds920-unable-to-connect-to-server-to-reclaim-after-password-reset/807150

I figured maybe something got messed up in the Plex password change a while back, and maybe I needed to uninstall and reinstall with the “Claim Ticket” method to re-claim my Plex server.

Here’s what I did that worked:

  1. Went to Package Center and clicked the drop-down entry to Uninstall Plex.
  2. It gave me a few options. I selected “Sign out and unclaim this server. Keep all existing files for future re-installation.”
  3. Once uninstalled, I clicked on the Manual Install button in Package Center, as normal, to re-install the 1.29 package that we are very familiar with.
  4. During installation, it asked me if I wanted to Claim the Server (something like that) and offered a link to get a Claim Ticket.
  5. I went to the linked site and got a Claim Ticket (random alphanumeric value), pasted it in the textbox, and voila, it told me my user had successfully claimed the server!
  6. FINALLY, when going to Plex now, my user can see all the stuff we used to see (my NAS / Plex Server, media, etc).

Sure hope it helps!

See this post. It will unclaim and re-claim your server: You need to reclaim your server, but don't dare to touch the Windows Registry
