I have one OTA channel not showing live tv. The channel appears in the guide, shows what is currently playing and the time left, and shows what is upcoming. When I click to watch it, it starts to load them (Apple TV) it just closes, (iPad and iPhone) it shows “couldn’t create the playback session for this item". Every other live channel works.
HDHomerun Extend, server on iMac, Plex pass subscription.
Go to my.hdhomerun.com. Click on the Extend device, and click the Channel Lineup link. From the channel lineup right click on the blue underlined link for the channel in question and choose Copy Link Address.
Open VLC and Start a Network Stream from the Media Menu. Paste the link copied in to Network Stream dialog box and start the stream. You should see the channel load. Switch back to the browser with my.hdhomerun.com page. Click on tuner status and select the tuner the VLC Network Stream is using.
Check the Signal Strength, Signal Quality, and Symbol Quality. Hopefully the numbers are >70% based on another thread this evening that posted a Silicon Dust Manual. If you have a low signal strength on that channel you may need to try to adjust the antenna you are using.
Thanks. I updated the channel lineup, checked the signal quality, then saw the HDHomerun firmware had not been updated. Silly me but I just bought it yesterday. Updated the firmware and issue solved.
