Other users on my mac can't connect to plex server

Do you mean other users on the Mac or other Plex accounts? Do you mean when switching accounts in macOS itself?

If I am looking at the right one it does not look like remote access is active.

When switching users others can’t connect. Tried web app, no luck. They can connect using their phone but not on the mac.

The server is running under an interactive user of your Mac. By switching users, that session is usually no longer active (there’s some means of fast user switching, but for all I understand, PMS won’t remain operational).

If you run PMS under one of those other Mac accounts, you’ll notice this will create a new server data directory and configuration under that account.

I don’t think that is the problem. When I switch to another user (on the Mac) I can still access plex on my phone so the server is still active.

Just to add a little more info: I’m the admin user on my M4 Mac Mini that is running the plex server. I can open plex without any problems on my admin account. If I switch to another user the plex server icon is no longer visible on the menu bar. I can access the web app and logon with my plex account but I get error messages saying it can’t connect to the server.

Does it work if they use the desktop app? Honestly I have never tried that so not sure what might be going on yet.

No. The web app says it cannot connect to the server.

Sorry I mean this app https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/?cat=plex+desktop&plat=macos#plex-app

I just want see if a browser thing or not. Logs from web app are a bit of a pain so just wanted to see if that app would work and if not get logs from that app.

Thanks. I didn’t know there was a MacOs desktop app. Tried it and it worked. Only thing I wasn’t able to find was the ability to skip the user selection prompt like with the other plex apps etc.

Thanks again.

Just realized they may need to do this individually when under their accounts on computer to browser to allow it local access.

it is here in the desktop app.

That option does not appear on the app!?

are you currently under your own account? it will only appear under your account (the admin of the home) but when you enable it then switch to them it will still be active.

It only appears for the admin user not a guest user

Ok, will try that

Ok. That worked. Everything is 100% now.

Thanks again
