Outside network appears and then fails

Server Version#: 1.18.2.2058

so interesting thing ive noticed is that no matter what settings i use my outside access, will show enabled and all green one minute then go red the next. whether i use the automatic port or manual port it seems to go stable then drop after a minute. now it was working perfectly up until about a month ago

comcast gig speed internet
netgear r9000 nighthawk router
synology NAS 918+
static bonded IP on NAS and reserved IP in router.

any suggestions?

I am having the same problem. Did you manage to solve this?

Same is happening to me. I’ve bee using Plex for over 3 years now, haven´t changed any of the setting or config in my network. Yesterday outside network access stopped working.

When I click on retry it goes green for about 5 seconds “Fully Accesible Outside you Network”, then it goes red to “Not available outside your network”.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

yes im still plauged by this, i may swap my routers around and see what happens but lately neither comcast or synolgy or netgear can give me a straight answer

Looks like this issue just came up for me as well. Been using manual port for about a year now with no issues and now all of a sudden it wont connect since last night…

I just went to my DS-1815 which sits behind a Pfsense firewall/router. The pfSense does my ISP authentication. The ISP-provided modem-router is in RFC-1483 transparent bypass mode (all router function disabled – media conversion only).

I have only one layer of NAT.

I enable the Remote Access.
It goes green and flips red.

I refresh the page (F5) and it’s green.
Remote Access does work from iPhone whose WiFi is turned off.

What’s different between what is known to work and what doesn’t?

I see reference above to multiple routers.

I need to ask: Are two routers in the chain from the WAN IP to the PMS server ?

Just wanted to add I’m in the same situation. Comcast Xfi, QNAP NAS - worked great with Plex up until a month or so ago - then same deal… Green “Full access” to red after about 5 seconds. Really a bummer!

I think is not related with the last update… seems like Plex had changed something the way we connect with our servers…
I restore from time machine my mac to a moth ago when everything worked smoothly… and I’m experimenting the same issues right now… I can’t access to my server from some locations outside… and my family members also can’t…

I’m also having the same problem, all go, Fully Accessible then 5 seconds later i get a red light, not accessible. 4 years with no trouble but now I can’t get access. I also tried changing settings but nothing helped . Please let me know when there’s a fix. I’m frustrated. I bought a new modem and formatted my drive to reinstall a fresh win 10 and tried again but still getting kicked out after a few sec’s…

I was having this problem of being disconnected after a few seconds but now I switched off the Manual port suggesting 32400 and I’ve been connected without fail for 20 min… Hopefully it will stay that way. I’m just surprised that Plex hasn’t addressed so many complaints. good luck on your server.

Any luck people? I still can’t get mine to stay connected for more than a couple of minutes…

For those of you who use VPN via PrivateVPN you now have to connect with UDP 1195 instead of with 1194 if you want open ports. Maybe this information will help someone who has had problems recently. It helped me. Now I can once again run Plex on my Synology Nas behind VPN.
Don’t forget to set up so you block all incoming ports and then only open the ones needed.

Just want to add that I am having this same issue where Remote Access continuously disconnects after a random period of time. Occasionally it will stay connected for a few days and sometimes barely an hour. This popped up out of nowhere a little over a month ago and nothing has changed on my end. It does seem to be related to when Plex changed the way they authenticate with their servers. It’s quite disappointing how silent Plex has been on this as it appears to be a large subset of users that are affected.

I’m having the exact same issue. i have tried everything i possibly could to get it to work and it won’t. i even fully uninstalled and reinstalled plex but it still flashes from green to red after a few seconds. its so frustrating. been 2 months and i can’t access my media outside of my house and neither can any of my family.

Same issue for me, connection only comes up for a few seconds then drops, How do we raise a trouble ticket with PLEX?

Same issue here. Been working without issue for years, now it’s screwed.
