Hello guys,
I’ve been having frustrating performance issues with Plex on my local network recently (last few versions or so), and for the life of me cannot understand why.
I’m experiencing issues with video pausing and hanging somewhat frequently when streamed. Some videos are of course better than others, but it happens a lot and it never used to a few months back.
Every device on the network involved in serving or pulling video from Plex is hardwired on ethernet to my router, and the network has excellent performance otherwise with transferring files to and from the server that Plex is running on (and pulling Netflix from the outside is similarly issue-free and great).
Speaking of which, I’m running the latest version of Plex server on a Mac Mini with an i5 and 8GB of RAM on Mac OS 10.11.6. Plex Server is on 1.9.6.4429.
The clients I’m using are on Xbox One, PS4, and a Roku 3. The issues exist across all 3 of these clients, although, and this is purely unscientific and anecdotal, the Roku 3 seems to have a bit more success, but still does experience these hiccups.
The library itself is on a Drobo connected to the Mac Mini.
Have there been any known issues with recent versions that might cause this? Restarting the whole server setup doesn’t really seem to help that much, the issues always come back quickly, although it can seem to clear bad problems for a few minutes.
I’ve attached logs.
