Overnight crash on PMS 1.24.5.5173 (QNAP 5.0.0.1828)

Server Version#: 1.24.5.5173
Player Version#: 4.68.0 (Plex Web) [& latest version on LG TV]

Installed latest updates (both to QNAP and Plex) a week or two ago, all been working fine since. Went to watch a recorded item this evening on my TV and found it couldn’t connect to the server. Went to PC and same issue via Plex Web - only showing cloud content with exclamation marks for all the local libraries.
I stopped and started the service on QNAP and all working again however the recording never took place - reported as channel not available.

I’ve had a look at the logs and before the restart logs the last entry was in the early hours of the morning -

Nov 02, 2021 03:39:43.733 [0x7f60a85c7b38] DEBUG - [JobRunner] Job running: '/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/CrashUploader' '--directory=/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/Library/Plex Media Server/Crash Reports/1.24.5.5173-8dcc73a59' '--version=1.24.5.5173-8dcc73a59' '--platform=Linux' '--platformVersion=QTS 5.0.0.1828' '--serverUuid=[REDACTED]' '--userId=[REDACTED]' '--sentryUrl=https://sentry.io/api/1233455/minidump' '--sentryKey=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx' '--vendor=QNAP' '--model=x86_64' '--device=TS-451+' '--allowRetries=0'

Any suggestions? Happy to send full logs to a mod if helpful.

Also is there a way to watch for this sort of crash and issue a service restart command?

BTW thanks to @ChuckPa for taking the time to look at the logs - no obvious cause (apart from a corrupted media file a day ago),

FYI.

Might have found something on Synology which matches an OOM termination by DSM. I’ll go through the logs again and update if I find the same or similar condition.

@EDIflyer

Do you have a termination message timestamp for me from when the host terminated PMS? (an email notification ?)

ah interesting, thanks

no - I thought PMS just crashed itself. I manually restarted it yesterday evening but not sure if that’s what you mean?

@EDIflyer

QTS can send you text/email notifications of system events.

Terminating PMS due to OOM qualifies as such an event.
PMS crashing of its own accord – not so much

It’ll help differentiate between QTS originated or PMS originated.

@ChuckPa as OK I see what you mean - yes I get those alerts when I login to QTS, there weren’t any showing when I logged in to restart PMS, indeed it showed it as running in the app manager and I had to stop/start it. Everything else was running fine so I don’t think any OOM errors. I’ve now got Tautulli installed so will see if it emails me when the server goes down, it has successfully notified me of a recording this lunchtime at least so the email notification is working!

Outstanding! Now we’ll get independing logging.
