i want to use Plex from Remote. First time is used myplex and the streaming quality was down sampled to 300p and under. So i asked myself what is the Packet flow of myplex if i open a port on my firewall and access plex via my public ip. So i create the rule and accessed the server with https://mydomain.info:32400 and i was forwarded to myplex to authenticate myself. After that i was redirected back to my own domain. But the streaming quality is the same. I got a huge bandwith at home and i want to use all of it if I access Plex from remote. So i dont want to use myplex bypass. Is there a solution for my scenario ? Or is it by design not possible ? The Reason is clearly not that I dont want to play for a plex pass. The reason is only that I want to use the maximum bandwith.
I’m not exactly sure I fully get your point.
It sounds like you’re using Plex‘ remote access via their relay. This usually only kicks in if Plex cannot establish a direct remote connection… and yes… the relayed connection has some restrictions. https://support.plex.tv/articles/216766168-accessing-a-server-through-relay/
yes you get my point… so to describe is not my special ability
I read the article. So the thing i get is that when I manual set a NAT from external to internal and access it via an external connection, plex recognize that it can access my Plex server directly and will not use the relay ? The thing why I am a bit cinfused is, when I access my Server from external I get redirected to my plex for login and after that I get another redirect back to my URL. So how can I verify that the traffic goes directly to my external client ?
My Topologie is way not standard. I use a Sophos Firewall Appliance with WebServer Protection (a ReverseProxy) for connecting and autorization. Means the plex server is not directly exposed to the internet. Maybe myplex relay can not detect if it is directly reachable.
Is there any way to completly disbale connection to plex ? If I have to buy a plex pass for this, thats not a problem, cause I like the product
