Parrot Asteroid

I would love to see a Plex app for the Parrot Asteroid. The Asteroid is an Android based car stereo running a custom version of Android. It's version 2.2, I think.

ASTEROID Dev Connect Portal is where to get information on best practices.

I would be willing to donate to get this started. Would anyone with the skills be willing to start a kickstarter page to get this going? Or would Plex do it if it raised enough funds to develop it? I would be willing to do all the legwork if someone gives me an amount that would be needed.

My thoughts would be that it would actually be two apps. One for music and one for videos.

The music app would blend in with the music api of the Asteroid. It would start back where it left off when powered down, ie if a playlist was used, it would pick back up where it left off. If would allow "pinning" of music and playlists, so they are cached while connected and would still allow playback when there is no connection. Similar to how Spotify works on it. If there is a data connection, it would allow adding songs to playlists or creating new ones.

The video app would also allow caching. It would allow transmitting to either screen or both at once, as well as options for sound. For instance, if you play a video on rear monitor while transmitting sound to monitor, you should still be able to play the music app on the speakers (probably just front speakers). But, if you are parked, it would be nice to play sound on speakers and video on both screens. When syncing videos, it should automatically transcode to the correct resolution for the Asteroid. Another really good option would be to use the Plex app on smartphones as a remote so the kids can play what they want in the back.

Thoughts and suggestions are most welcome.
