Partial search when changes detected stopped working - for movies only

Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488

Ive been scanning my library automatically with the partial search when it detects changes activated.

Its been working great, up until yesterday. Well atleast thats when i discovered it didnt work anymore as it should.

The weird thing is that it does not work for movies, but it works for tv-shows.

I have NOT changed ANYTHING either server-side or, well, anywhere else.

tv-shows are stored in \nas\shows\shows name\episodefile.mkv
movies are stored in \nas\movies\movie name\moviefile.mkv

and as i said, never had any issues with it up until recently.

So anyone got any ideas?

i’ll try to get a log for when the next time i add a movie to the folder and it dont scan/add it to the plex library.

EDIT: in the meantime i add this log, but server hasnt been restarted. and i guess its a big log. and the last movie added were around 8.24am and 8.36am today, but most certainly more close to 8:36

Plex Media Server Logs_2019-02-16_12-24-19.zip (1.7 MB)

Edit 2: forgot to add that the movie is named “Ralph breaks the internet” and that I a couple.of hours later did a manual scan on the whole library.

There is also a movie named the possession of Hannah grace that didn’t get scanned/added automatically. That I also did a manual.scan on the whole library. But that was yesterday.

So, no one has a clue?

Same problem on my server, but for all libraries (also tv shows)…feels like it stopped working after the last server update.

Ok, for me it’s only for movies. And I also noticed that it doesn’t matter if I disable the partial search. If I only use automatic search it won’t scan/add movies either. Only tv-shows.

So the only way for me now is either manual or setting it to scan at certain intervals.

REALLY need this solved as soon as possible.

This is happening for me too. At first it was only working for TV shows but not movies, and now it doesn’t seem to be working for either.

For me Movies and TV Shows work fine just all music libraries are problematic.
Even triggering a scan from the web app does not work (stays forever in scanning until I cancel)

I tried already removing the last added items (but they won’t get reomved from the library) and I deleted the complete Cache.

For me, this stopped working only recently.

I had read on one of the forums that this might be due to “filesystem limitations”, so until I saw this topic (and that other people were having the same issue), thought it might that Automatic Scanning stops working once the libraries get to a certain size, but that can’t be right, because my Music library (which has 11533 items in it) has never worked, but my TV Shows (which has 24,686 items in it) has worked flawlessly for years until a just over a week ago (on an LAN connected Netgear ReadyNAS 628X), so networked devices and library sizes don’t seem to be the problem.

The only thing that changed for me was updating to PMS 1.15.2.793 on 24 March 2019, so maybe it’s just something broken in the latest PMS version?

It also started for me updating to PMS 1.15.2.793.

I’ve updated to 1.15.3.858 and the broken ones did not fix themselves, but on some of them (and not others), I can click on the 3 dots and “Fix Match”.

So it appears that it’s something broken in the Matching algorithm in the Movie Scanner.

A few test movies added after updating to 1.15.3.858 seem to work, but I haven’t figured out how to update all the ones with broken matches automatically (and some let me do it manually but some don’t).

Update: I was able to fix the problem entries manually on 1.15.3.858 by:
3 dots -> Refresh metadata, 3 dots -> Fix Match -> Automatic -> (Plex or TMDB)
(for every single movie)

Im not 100% sure, but since my issue came back (it isnt scanning when changes in the folder are made). I think it might be some kind of “max files/folders” thing.

Because one thing i changed when it started to work again was moving all movie files into folders instead (one movies .nfo, .mkv, .sub, .whatever went to a folder instead of right under the shared folder), so there was less files/folders in the movie directory.

but since then i added more movies (folders), and now it isnt working again.
And if my memory serves me right, its about the same amount of folders under the shared movie folder now as it was when there was files and folders there.

Can this be one reason?

Unfortunately i cant move folders (movies) from that folder just to try it…

At the moment there are 796 folders, but i think it stopped adding at 790 folders.
