Performance Issues with Latest Plex (1.7.2.3878)

Hello all,
I am running Plex Media Server version 1.7.2.3878 on MacOS Sierra (v 10.12.5). Both of these are the latest versions. I do not run anything else on the Mac. Everything was working incredibly well until some recent updates to Plex. (Several versions ago, the following problems started to show up):

  1. When I select a show, there is a pause for about 15 - 30 seconds and then I get dropped out to the main Plex screen. I navigate through to the show and it loads up. When I change from one show to another, the issue happens again. (Observed on Apple TV 4th Gen and iPhone all running latest OS). This happens quite often now.

  2. When watching a show on an Apple TV, the show will stop suddenly and the screensaver kicks in. If I press a button on the remote, the show resumes until the screensaver timeout hits again. Typically rebooting the Apple TV resolves this for a period of time (usually until the next day but sometimes it crops up the same day)

  3. Increase in connectivity issues. This was never really an issue before the latest batch of updates.

  4. Video freezes but show continues with audio playback. Hitting skip forward or back or pause / play fixes this. It recurs until the device is restarted.

I have tried restarting the Mac and restarting Plex. This happens across multiple devices (several Apple TV units and on an iPhone). I am posting this here in the hopes that someone may be able to share similar experiences and/or a proposed resolution. It is becoming a significant issue which is impacting our enjoyment of Plex.
