Permanent "Looking for servers..."

Server Version: 1.15.6
Player Version: (none)

I’ve used Plex in the past and now that I got a server running at home I decided to make a try.
So I donwloaded the installer (linux 64 bit) as I’m running Ubuntu 18.04 x64 from here: https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/#plex-media-server.
I sign-in from a computer on the same network to the web interface (server.ip:32400) and I don’t get any “setup server” configuration. It keeps “looking for servers…” on the left top navbar, I also don’t find any server related configuration settings.

First I followed this guide https://support.plex.tv/articles/115007577087-devices/ with no success. I don’t get listed any servers.

Then I though it could be because I’m not making the request from the same host so I tried to setup an apache proxy, results in the same behabiour.

Tried purging the software, removing installer and downloading again. Allways the same behabiour (also cleared browser cache).

The process is running correctly, doesn’t show any errors

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

Are they on the same subnet?
Is the subnet RFC-1918 compliant (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, or 172.16.x.x -> 172.31.x.x ) ?
DNS and gateway on that host valid?

This all in order,

  1. Terminal window
  2. elevate to root shell
  3. Stop PMS
  4. Rename “/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Preferences.xml” to “Preferences.xml-prev”
  5. Start PMS
  6. In an incognito window, open http://ip.addr.of.server:32400/web
  7. Begin claiming it as normal.
  8. If the server already has library sections, SKIP creating some. Previously defined sections survive this soft-reset.
  9. Continue through to the dashboard, setting up preferences agin.
  10. It should now be on your account again properly.

Yes, both machines are on the same subnet 192.168.1.5/24 (server) 192.168.1.10/24 (my pc).

Followed the steps with no success, it’s acting the same as before.

Go into the shell of the server system

sudo sh
cd "/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server"
tar cfz /tmp/Logs.tar.gz ./Logs

Attach Logs.tar.gz here with your next reply. We can see what’s going wrong

Thanks a lot for the support, here you have the log files logs.tar.gz (145.3 KB)

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that except it suffered a crash.

It is as if the client isn’t allowing communications.

Are you accessing it from the loopback (127.0.0.1) or IP ?

I’m accesing the server from the IP. I previously tried accesing it through an apache proxy, but it didn’t suceed anyway.

I’m uploading the crash reports folder crashes.tar.gz (234 Bytes)

Edit:

I’ve installed the plex media server on my windows 10 machine and It got recogniced perfecly on the Plex instance installed on the server.

I don’t know why, but I tried a last time accesing the Plex instance of the server but instead of using the FQDN an IP address and it appeared the server configuration wizard.

So now my question is: why wasn’t previously appearing the wizard? I was accessing the same site but instead of using the direct IP address I was using a domain name. It also didn’t work through a proxy.
