On random videos closed caption keep getting turned on.
It would be nice to have the option under all circumstances permanently disable closed caption.
It is very simple if I want them on I will turn them on!
I’m not sure if I understand your suggestion (or its context).
Is this a general issue or something you experience with live-tv streaming / online media sources / your personal live tv tuner?
Do you have set your account preferences to automatically select subtitles?
Settings > Account > Audio & Subtitle Settings
I would like a check box added some place in the settings that will prevent subtitles from being displayed on everything as in all of my devices and clients connected to my account. It should not matter the media source or the client.
Randomly the sub titles get turned on when I play media. I have to take time to turn them off when I start playing the media.
You can find many people complaining about this for 8 plus years if you google "permanently disable caption plex’.
I have done many suggestions recommended by people saying if you do X it will never display subtitles again. Yet a hand full of videos later I start playing a movie and the sub titles are back and now I have to go turn them off.
With the Automatically select audio and subtitle tracks option disabled, that shouldn’t happen.
The only exceptions coming to mind are:
- when manually selecting a subtitle track, that’ll override the automatic selection
- Subtitles which are already burned into the video
- EIA 608 cc tracks which might show as a separate track but act like they’re burned into the video
