Personal Media: selectively "forgets" posters and portions of metadata

Server Version#: 1.25.3.5409
Player Version#: 4.73.3 (web)(problem not exclusive to client)

There’s a personal media show I’ve added to a TV library. I’ve manually added metadata and posters. After a time, going back into the show (from any client), the posters will be selectively missing (usually not all, but most). Editing each episode, it will show no indication that a poster was ever uploaded. I will upload it again, but the pattern repeats. When adding a new episode, this almost always results in several episodes within the season losing their poster and sometimes portions of the metadata. This almost always happens to the neighboring episode (i.e., if I add episode 3, episode 2 loses its data).

What else can I provide and what may be done?

Personal medias should go into a library of the type Other Videos and separated into a separate directory, so not scanned by your original Shows library

When moving, you might need to do the Plex Dance

Okay, but I’ve put personal media shows in this library before. This is the only show I’ve had this problem with.

I recommend you to never use the “upload” feature for custom posters and cover art.

Instead, place all these artwork as .jpg files beside your media files.

That IS good advice. I’ll definitely pursue that. Any thoughts on the metadata? Is there a similar mechanism with, say, an accompanying TXT, CSV, XML file?

Unfortunately not.

If your files use the MP4/m4v container, you can embed a few metadata into the media files themselves. At least the episode titles and the episode descriptions can be read by Plex from these.
But there is nothing which can store the metadata of the show as a whole.
