I am trying to find an editor or any information on adding to the metadata of my MP4 files so the summary matches when PMS scans my files. I have a bunch of content I want to make available but wish to add summaries to the files when them come up. I notice that when I have the title Information entered in the metadata (when the metadata and the PMS categories match) PMS will automatically associate them. How do I update either PMS to search for metadata already exposed (Like associating Summary with Content or something like that) or does anyone know how to edit an MP4 file’s summary metadata? I can’t find anything that lets me get to the Summary category of metadata on Windows 7.
I don’t know about how plex scans the mp4 files metadata but you can right click an item in plex media manager and there you’ll find the edit metadata option to edit what plex shows. I know this can be a pain if the data you want is already in the file but it’ll get the job done.
Yes it will get the job done true enough. I'm interested because I'd like to setup a synchronized series of plexapp servers at multiple locations. I plan on using torrents and RSS subscriptions to automate the content replication across sites. I really need a way to get that Summary data to match something in the mp4 file. Because of Win7 junk I can't edit the Summary property, I'm left with Comments... Or can I setup my own personal media content file.. freebase, etc...
