Personal Videos Using Embedded Metadata Inconsistently

So I’m noticing some inconsistencies with the way personal videos are scanned. In one library, my embedded metadata is ignored and in other library the metadata is read, but inconsistently.

In my MUSIC library, you’ll notice that Music Videos show up ignoring the embedded metadata and use only the file names, making it impossible to know the video title.

So as an experiment, I created a library for just Music Videos. In this scenario, the metadata is scanned properly in most cases.

However, for some files, the metadata is being read incorrectly even though the file properties are correct.

In this example, the year is listed as 2016 in Plex when it should be 1981.

My library and agent settings should be correct.

For all Personal Media categories, I made sure that that Local Media Assets was on top.

And I made sure that the Music Video directory was configured correctly.

So can we call this a bug?

The focus on this section is to improve personal photos and videos, so not sure about the best approach for Music Videos…

@keithah I appreciate the reply, but that seems like kind of a cop-out to avoid the issue. Since Plex doesn’t offer a dedicated Music Video Library or Music Video Scanner, we have to make do with what we have. From a technical standpoint, Music Videos are no different than Home Movies. They’re both MP4 files with embedded metadata. The actual content of the videos is irrelevant to the issue I’m posting.

And since this is a legitimate and reproducible issue, your reply would have been more helpful if you told me the correct place to post the issue instead of suggesting this isn’t the place to do it.
