Plexamp casting has always been broken, it is acknowledged by devs and a fix is not being considered a priority.

By yourself actually, even saying a rewrite is necessary but not prioritized => PlexAmp regularly cannot cast to Google devices - Plex Labs - Plex Forum
Forgive me for being pedantic, but that statement was specifically about casting to Google devices. Plexamp is more than capable of casting to all manner of devices (in a very flexible way) which run the native Plexamp client. Moving playback from one device to another is not only flexible, but intuitive.

Nice that you admit it but most people have chromecast devices or have it integrated in most their audio/video devices, like it or not it has become some sort of standard; pushing users to build headless setup is not a valid workaround for many people.
Also when you buy hifi speaker or amp that support casting with nearly every streaming apps, it is expected to work with an “audio enthusiast” app like plexamp, correct me if i’m wrong but it’s actually broken with most hardware setups (sonos, yamaha, onkyo, kef…) that also works with chromecast audio.
The aim of this petition is only for the dev team to realize many users feel bad when reading that, “yes it is broken” then “We need to rewrite that part of software to fix what should have been working from day 1” and finally “we have other priorities”

As somebody stated, as Plex’ no. 1 audio solution, there should be a maximized compatibility with all kinds of devices - including Google Cast protocal based devices (from the protocol 'inventor) and its successor Google TV Streamer.
Understood that you cannot fight too many bug wars at the same time.

Plexamp should not exist. The main app worked just fine. All they have to do is delete the plexamp project and revert the Plex app. I’m not giving them another cent until they do.
You can pry PlexAmp from my cold dead hands! It’s light years better than the standard Plex app for music.
