PGS burn triggers no more HW transcoding ( 4K (HEVC Main 10) - Intel N100 - Win 11)

Server Version#:1.41.9.9961
Player Version#: 4.148.0
I have noticed that many people have reported the same problem, but it remains unresolved to this day.

I also noticed that only specific pgs subtitles trigger this issue. I learned how to extract pgs subtitles online, but I’m not sure if I did it correctly. I have now uploaded them for testing.

Seeing this as well on Unraid with an Intel iGPU. Pretty sure it was working until fairly recently. Now any Blu-ray with PGS subs is killing my CPU. If they’re off, then HW transcoding kicks in just fine.

The issue remains unresolved.

Has it even been acknowledged as an issue? It took years to implement it the first time…how long are we going to have to wait for them to notice it’s busted and push out a fix. Maybe the new transcoder they’re testing will help :crossed_fingers:t2:

Same issue here. Switched from Windows to a Linux-based server partially in the hopes this was an OS specific issue. PGS subtitles are still broken in both.

In my testing its not even just specific subtitle files, it’s more luck of the draw whether it will cooperate at all. Subtitles set before playback begins often work and subtitles during tone-mapping most always work. I tend to have issues where the server switches to CPU transcoding when I 1. select subtitles mid-playback 2. skip around during playback 3. restart something that was just previously playing and 4. VERY often when transcoding HDR-to-HDR. All this is consistent in both Windows 11 and Debian, and regularly when using Intel based hw encoders. NVIDIA doesn’t suffer the same issues (at least for me).
