Photos folder will not play .Mov Video Files on Android based Smart TV's

When I create a photos folder which has videos the photos play fine but the videos only show the first frame with the constant swirling circle… yet the audio plays fine… this occurs on my sony andoid tv and another tv which has plex app installed on a firestick…
However I do not have this problem when I view the same folder on my pc via browser…

There is nothing wrong with the videos as when I add the same videos to a normal movie folder they play fine on all the devices… so this is a specific issue with “photos” type folder on smart tvs…

By any chance… is .mov files that will not play?

Yes they are .mov files? I am pretty sure they used to play fine… do you have any thoughts on how to resolve please?

It seems with the last update it’s broken some how, am having the same problem, reencoding helps but I ain’t doing that, way to many…

Ah ok thanks - appreciate your clarification. Are the devs aware of this issue - if not is there anyway to inform them? Like you I have way too many to want to reencode… and why should we…? They play fine in another folder type… it’s just weird…

Just for clarification Jon, are you trying to play the videos through the TV app or on your phone?

The issue occurs on my Sony Android TV, and on my Samsung TV which has Plex installed on an Amazon Firestick. I just tested it on my iPhone and it works with out a problem…it also works fine on my pc browser, so seems to be just on the smart TV Apps. Do you know if Devs are aware of this issue?

Has to be the android tv player app…
I have no idea Jon if the devs know about it, am sure they’re bound to know! Paid just shy of £100 for this this software… there’s problems with passing DTS-HD MA and DOLBY TrueHD as well.

Yes I agree - something with how the photos folder sees .mov files… yes I have also noticed the DTS-HD issues… although I can live that… the annoying thing is that I can’t find a formal way to notify the dev team of the .mov file issue - anyone?
