Pic freezing with Subtitles

Was advised to post this here.

 

I am currently experiencing picture freeze when I view content with subtitles. Everything would work perfectly if subs would be turned off.

 

I am currently using server Version 0.9.11.4 on an Apple TV3 with a Qnap 269L

It sounds like the CPU in the QNAP is not powerful enough to transcode. What’s the performance of the NAS like when you have this issue?

I could see this being the problem.

Try going into the settings on your PlexConnect and switching the Playback from "Play" to "DirectPlay W/Fallback".

Could solve the problem.

According to this list it's clearly a problem of low CPU power for transcoding. If the subs are SRT external you may opt to use the PlexConnect subtitle renderer mechanism instead.
