Plex PIN entry is not implemented well. The main purpose of PIN entry is to safeguard the access code. Your implementation shows the PIN as it is entered which is no good if others are around. Please fix this.
Please have a look at how the PIN for firestick settings is entered as a reference. They made it easy to enter without giving it away.
Seems like Amazon disagrees with you. They literally use a numeric pin code, it’s just assigned to the directional buttons, and there’s even a “shift” key (menu) to get 5-9. It’s the same feature. You’re just substituting “directional arrows” for “numeric keypad”
Thanks for the image. As you can see that is not a numpad. That is a way of entering numbers with the directional pad. This is how Amazon enters PIN codes (which is great) but not the way that Plex enters PIN codes (I want them to copy this method).
Amazon shows this entry screen but the people in the room do not know which direction you pushed to enter a number… hence the PIN stays secret.
Plex makes you enter the numbers in plain visible text so everyone can see it.
BTW - In case you haven’t noticed… we are requesting the same feature. So instead of being argumentative, you could just agree and reinforce the request so that it gets implemented.
The point is the feature request I’m directing you towards is the right one, so your “Nu-uhhh! That’s not it! Because Fire Sticks don’t have keypads!” is asinine hair-splitting.
I’m not asking for this feature, I’m simply linking you to the pre-existing feature request for the issue you are posting about.
Actually, my post is not hair-splitting. The post you linked to is for someone who has a universal remove which does have a number pad. Also, this is a generic streaming forum which could include Plex installed on a TV which has a number pad for channel entry.
Amongst the links on that topic, someone making the same complaint as you:
Also someone opening a feature request specific to the Fire Stick remote, which was merged into that one.
Do you see the tagged platforms at the top of the feature request I linked? “Fire TV” isn’t just there for laughs. Also Apple TV is there – not aware of an Apple-made remote for an Apple TV that has a number pad. Or a Roku.
The original feature request post made by that user was overly-limited as originally written. They are posting about a Samsung Smart TV and entering the PIN code on it. Lots of Samsung Smart TVs have a remote like this now, though:
The feature request I linked is a universal request regarding PIN entry displaying the PIN on-screen while typed, and you’re still repeating this stupid point about how the post talks about a physical number keypad on the remote, despite it now being a merger of other threads for other remote types - which I also already pointed out to you.

Also, I will clarify that while I am “not asking for this feature”, I recognize your use-case and still support a change like this. I simply am not voting for the feature because of the limited number of votes we are given, so I am using those for features that directly impact me.
